Which P5 schools have won zero team NCAA national championships since 1869?
Baseball and Track & Field are still active for 2019, the following schools need a win to break their 22 year streak of failing to win a NCAA national championship. FYI, some of these schools have longer active streak, but the data I have starts with the first BCS championship in 1998 fall season. Texas Tech, Mississippi & Mississippi State are ALL still alive in the super regional.

ACC : Pittsburgh
ACC : Virginia Tech*
ACC : North Carolina State

Big Ten : Rutgers

Big 12 : Iowa State
Big 12 : Kansas State
Big 12 : Texas Tech

Pac 12 : Washington State

SEC : Missouri
SEC : Mississippi
SEC : Mississippi State

* Virginia Tech wikipedia page indicates they won a bass fishing championship in 2007, but I did not include this sport since it is not sanctioned by the NCAA.

=============================================================================================================
Updated 6/10/2019 to include every NCAA team national championship (1869-2019). I did not filter out championships that were removed by NCAA. For pre BCS/football NC used NCAA data @ : https://www.ncaa.com/history/football/fbs

* 3 P5 teams have never won a NCAA team championship
Mississippi State
Kansas State
Virginia Tech

* most NCAA team NC wins in a single year
Stanford 1992 (6) : W. VB, W. BB, M. Gym, W. SW, M. SW, M. Ten

* I think everyone knows Stanford has the most NC with 124 (1 FB NC in 1926)

* non-P5 with most team NC won
Yale (29 + 18FB)

So the Pac 12 REALLY is the Conference of Champions :)

Also, personal bragging point - NAU has won three NCAA team championships in that time frame 03-wink

Texas Tech got very close in men's hoops this year. They did win a NC in women's hoops in 1993, before this data set began. They are also #1 in the nation in men's outdoor track & field going into this weekend's national championship (I don't keep up with track and wouldn't have known that, but a Tech friend told me that at church last weekend).

I would have guessed K-State, and am not surprised by any of the others.

If you are in the SEC, and your school's name starts with M, you don't get to win a national championship. 01-lauramac2

While not NCAA Sanctioned, 2018 NC State won the Rugby National Championship. To go along with our multiple Bass Fishing National Championships. You could at least note that along with Va Tech. 03-wink 04-cheers

I think you need to update your list.

Texas Tech just won a National Championship in Men's T&F.

Sweet victory in Austin

Rugby and bass fishing are not NCAA sanctioned sports. I know ECU has won a bunch of club sport championships and old NAIA National titles but unfortunately not the same. My UVA buddies are always ripping our Tech buddies because they still haven’t won a team NCAA championship ever. I don’t say anything because I’m right there with em.

Is 98 some key date?

Push it back to 74 and see what happens.

Yes, the beginning of the BCS and the more stark delineation of Power and Non-Power conferences. So it has a logic to it.

Yes.

1996 works as well. That is when the SWC dissolved and the Big 12 and CUSA were formed.

Actually 96 for me was my Master Degree year. I am to damn old to put my BS year. 03-wink Though I will admit, that was the last time a truly great leader was president. To use baseball methodology, none after him ever left the minors to come close to his 1st ballot HOF status.

VT has national championships in track & field and wrestling. Those are sanctioned, but not team sports, so our inclusion on the list is still correct even without the fishing asterisk.

Both are team championships - unless you are referring to an individual that won an event (which wouldn't count for this purpose)

VT has never won a team championship in Wrestling or Men's Track & Field

Because the question was TEAM Championships. Not a wrestler winning one weight class, or a Shot putter winning the NC meet.

True for NCAA team championships. However, since 1949 RU won 2 national championships in sports that did not have NCAA tournaments or were not compulsive at the time. The NCAA simply ignores these.
