Were it not for Gary Patterson, TCU would be alongside Rice and UTEP in C-USA purgatory.

The ranking of the top Div. I college programs in the state has stayed fairly constant: aTm has moved up on the Forty Acres, but the Orangebloods still have the numbers.

We should let the UNT fan have his moment of fame.

I won't respond to the TCU grad who worships aggy and bashes the Big 12 and Texas Tech anymore on this thread.

You do realize our all time football series is tied a 4 games apiece, and North Texas and Texas Tech have a home and home series scheduled for 2024 and 2027. Just saying.

Congrats on beating Spike Dykes 3 out of 4. Since then, we have won 2 straight.

I think DFW area Red Raiders are looking forward to the game in Denton. Easy trip for our alumni. We normally help sell stadiums out in Dallas and Ft. Worth and I expect the same in Denton.

Congrats again on the series. It's fun playing different schools in the state of Texas OOC.

Thanks, but tell your fans to get their tickets early, because I'm fairly sure this "UNiTe North Texas" campaign is designed to ensure we can sell out our stadium without the help of visiting fans. If we need visiting fans to help us sell out games in 2024, I will have some serious issues with the leadership at North Texas.

And, congratulations on hiring Matt Wells. He is the real deal. I would not be surprised at all if he had a Matt Campbell type debut season.

I have a small feeling tickets will be plentiful. Maybe my feelings are small and stupid.

If Matt Wells can pull several Matt Campbell type seasons, Red Raiders will be happy and hope we become relevant again like the 2000's.

Sure, that UTEP team that has won 1 game in the past 2 season, must be tied with us. 01-wingedeagle

I'm looking forward to visiting Ford on Sept. 7th. UNiTe North Texas! 05-mafia

It refers to the state of programs, not just yearly records. However sunken the SMU program has been over the last three decades, a seat in the AAC still beats one in Conference USA.

So by your standard, you think the "state of a program" is a reflection of which conference you are a member of and not what you actually do on the field or if you actually draw fans to your games?

So Texas A&M should be listed #1?

Good point. +1 for pointing out the hypocrisy.

Good for UNT on their campaign.

I just don’t get why some people need to put other programs down to make feel themselves better. In UTEP’s case, their issues are internal not external unlike the vast majority of G5 programs where they’re overshadowed by pro and P5 teams in their market and they have to win in order to get any attention. It’s still not an excuse to underachieve if you have all those advantages that UTEP has and the school does deserves to be in that purgatory called C-USA instead of being with its peers in the MWC. Until it starts winning in both revenue sports, we can’t demand being in a better conference. We have to earn it.

For what it is worth, I like conferencing with UTEP, Rice, and even UTSA. I hope UTEP figures out their issues and begin winning. I want our collection of Texas programs to become a strong core that can influence college football in the region, but we can't do that until we all play better on the field, and sustain success over a period of time.

I think the problem with C-USA is the level of commitment many of our programs are making. C-USA's athletic budgets spend on average $31 million a year on sports (ODU, North Texas, FAU, MTSU, Charlotte, FIU, & UTEP spend above $31 million), while the MWC spends an average of $42 million a year. The AAC averages $57 million. There appears to be a direct correlation between the level of spending and overall conference success in football.
