I'm sure the MW will get the #8 team from the PAC-12....whoop-de-freaking-doo! Rather play the champ from another G5 conference than a #60 ranked 6-6 Pac team.

Reread - Only thing that seems confusing is the Gasparilla it appears to be SEC vs American but they have it as ACC also. I wonder if that is a conditional back up? Otherwise, it makes no sense. That would make it the 11 slot if SEC or AAC doesn't fill a spot. Which actually makes sense.

Camping World I see has moved up in the world as the #2 bowl for the ACC and #3 for XII.

I thought it was originally a #3 bowl for the Big East designed to bulk up their lineup after BCS autobid with a mid tier XII selection.

At this point its all but interchangeable with the Citrus.

Bowls that are generally regarded as "major".

SEC
Sugar vs. Big 12
Citrus vs. Big Ten
Outback vs. Big Ten

ACC
Orange vs. SEC/Big Ten/Notre Dame
Sun vs. Pac-12
Gator vs. SEC

Big 10
Rose vs. Pac-12
Citrus vs. SEC
Outback vs. SEC

Pac-12
Rose vs. Big Ten
Alamo vs. Big 12
Sun vs. ACC

Big 12
Sugar vs. SEC
Alamo vs. Pac-12

14 major bowl slots for the P5 + 5 more in the Fiesta, Peach and Cotton for 19 total slots.

19 is the exact number of CFB stadiums with 80,000+ home capacity so those are the 19 programs that will be playing in a major bowl game.

The vast majority of P5 programs will be reduced to bowling in a non-traditional G5 level type bowl game every season since they don't have the mobs of fans for the biggies.

That is why moving to an NY10 system would give the smaller programs good odds of making a biggie on a 9-3 type year instead of a second tier bowl

Camping world has been the #2 for the ACC the past six years. I don't think the order is known yet for the ACC bowls other than Orange, Outback and Camping World.

Why does the Quick Lane Bowl exist if it's a Big Ten vs American matchup where the Big Ten schools hardly care and AAC teams are not in close proximity and it's Detroit.

The Quick Lane Bowl needs to be moved to Charleston, South Carolina as the Medal of Honor Bowl (smaller stadium) or something if they really have to have more games.

It's only moved up in perception. It's still the second rate bowl it's always been, the kid sister to the Citrus complete with the second rate payout.

There's no where in Charleston to play now that The Citadel tore down half their stadium with plans only to have 15k seating.

So it looks like the AAC will not get a tie in to either the Peach, Cotton, or Fiesta Bowl games with the SEC... the AAC can have 7 tie-ins and the SEC can have 11.. However it says the SEC opted to stay at 10..

I hope the MWC picks up the New Orelans Bowl Tie-in vs CUSA and picks up the Conditional Contract for the Cheez-it (Copper/Cactus Bowl) Tie-in... Perfect Bowl for MWC vs BIG12 or BIG when the P-5 Schools Can't fill it.

One thing about the Detroit Bowl game - it tends to be played on December 26th. Bowls played on that date tend to particularly want close-in teams. You can only travel so far if you need to be home on Christmas.

Cincinnati, Memphis and Connecticut have all played in Detroit Bowl games before and all brought good crowds. Temple and Navy are schools that aren't too far from Detroit. That's 5/12th of the AAC right there.

The Sun Belt lost the tie-in with the Arizona Bowl. It'd be more likely that MWC picks up the CUSA slot in New Orleans than the other way around, especially with the extremely close relationship the Superdome and NO Bowl committee has with the Sun Belt. (Our offices are inside the dome)

I think NO Bowl will be Sun Belt vs. _________ for a long time.

MWC vs Sunbelt would work for me..... However I see what you are saying....AAC or CUSA makes more since in the NO Bowl than MWC..

Ive been hoping the NOLA bowl would become a AAC bowl. If you cant get another bowl with a P5 opponent---seems like NOLA would be as fun a place to go as any for G5 vs G5 bowl.

I 100% support the New Orleans bowl being SBC vs. AAC. The AAC could give up their Cure Bowl slot to CUSA in return.

Sounds like some of the McMurphy stuff might be off. He just tweeted the following—

“MAC replaces ACC as Big Ten’s opponent in Quick Lane Bowl in new bowl cycle from 2020-25”

That's the only change that he made. Apparently the deal wasn't finalized yet.

It was inevitable because the ACC sucks at negotiations. Our peer conference's top non playoff bowls are the Citrus and Alamo on or near New Year's Day. We get the kid sister bowl of the Citrus a couple of days after Christmas for a fraction of the payout.

He has the AAC, ACC, and SEC listed for Gasparilla. Is there some type of rotation? Is the AAC or ACC a backup option? The SEC website seems to indicate they're in it every year (whether it will be filled is another question).
