Dave Clawson
I hear all the time about how good of a coach David Cutcliffe is at Duke. He is an awesome coach but why isn’t Clawson as highly praised? The guy has made Wake competitive in a short time. I didn’t realize Wake had won 3 bowl games in a row. He deserves a big raise lol.

Wake has the smallest fan base of any of the schools...so not as many fans posting. Also, he has had two 6 win and one 7 win regular seasons the last three years. That is good but not great.

Clawson is VERY good. Both he and Cutcliffe have built bowl-winning programs where the teams were losing 90% of their games when these coaches arrived.
All I can figure is that Cut came from an SEC team while Claw came from a G5 IIRC. Shouldn't matter, bet it does.

Clawson is well regarded. Even if you discount the seemingly guaranteed W vs NC State.
Cutcliffe has a longer P5 history and is more personable. The press loves him.

Not to pick nits or anything, but Clawson's predecessor (Grobe) won 77 games in his 13 year tenure (48%), not to mention an ACC championship. That compares favorably with Clawson's 28 wins in 5 years (44%). Before Cutcliffe, on the other hand, Duke was literally deemed by a court to be the worst football program in all of FBS, winning a total of 9 conference games in 13 years.

Grobe's last 5 seasons at WFU:
2009: 5-7
2010: 3-9
2011: 6-7
2012: 5-7
2013: 4-8
so I guess not absolutely putrid - I see your point.
Grobe's best 3-year run was 2006-08, in which he went 11-3, 9-4, 8-5 (followed by the above).
Grobe got 'em there FIRST, then Clawson got 'em back.
OTOH, Spurrier was a distant memory at Duke when Cutcliffe arrived.
