He chose to play at Duke, and sit on the bench where he could have started at UCLA. Will be curious to see how Mick is able to recruit out there, and if it really was the program or the coach.

My suggestion to UCLA fans would be to get used to it. Cronin will get better recruits at UCLA than he did here, but he's not going to compete with Coach K, Bill Self, and Calipari. If they give him time, I think he can be pretty successful there with the kind of athletes that target UCLA, but I don't anticipating him building a new dynasty like what the fans are craving.

If he wants to last out there, he'd better get used to the idea of proving himself their equal. No less is expected of him, and he will be dismissed promptly if he falls short.

Pretty sure this joke writes itself.

I know everyone is over him and moved on, but I put together my thoughts on the only coach I ever knew as a Cincy

That's a pretty fair assessment.

that was an excellent article on Mick and his teams. I appreciated what Mick did to bring UC out of the ashes that Zimpher had left us in. I was disappointed at times over lack of a good offense at times but was also with Bob Huggins' teams. I wish Mick well at UCLA but he'll find it probably tougher than he had in cincinnati. I'm looking forward to the new era at UC Basketball now. I think John Brannen will do a good job.

Time to stop talking about Mickey. Mickey left us, whereas Huggs did not.

Looks like Mick's string of Tourney appearances may be in jeopardy...

Mick just bought himself a cushion. At least we know what some of his talking points will be this year.

They wouldn't be ineligible for the tournament until 2021.

the look on the UCLA AD'S face during Mick's press conference was priceless when Mick started talking about how the basketball players will attend classes and work very hard academically. He mentioned we won't have shoplifters anymore. The color seemed to go out of the AD'S FACE and was very uncomorftable after that. It looked like he was thinking, ' OH MY GOD, WHAT HAVE I DONE?' look.

Mick: We are going to go to class, we are going to graduate, we aren't going to shoplift in this program....

Press: That's great coach. Can you talk about your plan to build a winning team that is capable of runs in March?

Mick: We are going to go to class, we are going to graduate, we aren't going to shoplift in this program...

RE: CRONIN
Somehow I think in 2 years people will be comparing Coach Brannen to Huggins (for better or for worse) and Cronin will be a semi-forgotten footnote to Bearcat history.
