I couldn’t agree more, but if he pick another instate mascot which are being thrown up like the Bulldog (Tech) or pelican (Tulane) I’m giving up and just gonna day our mascot is a crawfish or a white rubber boot.

Will LaTech even play you guys? Maybe keeping the bulldog will tick (not a pun) them off.

We play each other fairly regularly (maybe every year?) in MBB, WBB, baseball and softball, and three years ago we completed a home and home series in football. I don't know if there's another one in the works yet or not, but I'm sure we'll get another home and home football series scheduled sooner or later.
As far as the bulldog mascot goes, there are lots of bulldogs out there (La Tech, UGA, Miss St, etc.) just like there are lots of Tigers (LSU, Clemson, Missouri, etc.). I personally don't care what ULL's mascot is, but I'd be surprised if they chose to officially make the same mascot that we use as their own.
I think the Cajuns ought to pattern their mascot after the old Houston Oiler's mascot. The Oiler's had a roughneck wearing a hardhat that looked like an Oilers helmet roaming the sidelines as he toted a huge wrench over his shoulder. That'd be a great fit for the Cajuns as Lafayette is known for its connection to the the oil drilling business. It'd also be a very unique mascot in college sports.

To be fair I don't even think the Sun Belt had football when The Waterboy was made and App state was FCS when the longest yard was made.

They had a thread on RaginPagin overall consensus is either a Rougarou or a Gator which I am in agreement with.
As far as the other topic scheduling, there is no reason why LaTech and Louisiana shouldn’t play each other. I know Tech fans like to say we beat them 10 consecutive times and all that, but when it comes to state rivals that is it. It’s a good home game for Tech as well as for us and it creates fan interest for both programs.
Both schools are trying to become that 2nd school in the state and both schools try there hardest to do so. Each one has a different path on how to get there. That’s when we need to put our differences aside and play each other.

I’ve been at Tech athletic meetings where OOC scheduling was discussed in depth. The first priority for scheduling is to try to get seven home games if at all possible, but get six no matter who we have to schedule. Like everyone else, we’re trying hard to get as many home games scheduled with P5 teams as possible. Almost all Tech fans I know are perfectly ok with having a home and home series with the Cajuns as often as it is possible for us both.

I wish we played every year, to be completely honest we don’t like y’all and y’all dont like us plan and simple, but I think we both respect each other. We don’t have a real rivalry game, and I know y’all have southern miss but I this if we played every year it would be an amazing rivalry people would actually want and want to go to.

Someone in Lafayette still has to have the old Lafayette Roughnecks mascot (AF2 Team). Or if they want to do a Gator then get in touch with the guy that played Alfonse The Alligator for years and see if he won't sell ya the costume.

1965 dude. Our basketball team got the death penalty for giving black players scholarships.
I am in the camp that thinks we do not need a live mascot. I think they come off as cheesy and forced BUT if I had to choose, it would be the Rougarou or the Loup Garou.
We would never try to take Latec's mascot. Dead bulldog's aren't cool.

That's nice to know, especially since you people have already failed once in trying to hi-jack our mascot.
I suppose we're all now in for another decades long battle, only this time instead of confusion over only what your university's name is, your fans can also be confused over what your mascot is.
You know, this kind of thing isn't that hard for most universities. You guys in Lafayette are the absolute kings when it comes to having an identity crisis.

We could have a live Mascot, But if we had a Cajun man from Butte LaRose in a cage it might be frowned upon.
