RE: GSU Stadium new site for state high school championship
https://ugawire.usatoday.com/2019/05/08/...tle-games/

Quote:QB: Mike Wright, Woodward Academy (’20)

“As a kid in Georgia, as soon as you touch a football you dream of playing where the Falcons play. To have it taken away sucks but I guess it’s something we’ll have to adjust to.”

CB: A.J. Dodd, Kennesaw Mountain (’21)

“I think the games at the Benz Stadium were pretty thrilling for us as players, just getting an opportunity to step on the same field as some of the best players in the league.”

WR: Landon Kardian, Holy Innocents’ (’21)

“I do not like the idea to move out of Mercedes-Benz because that stadium is one of the coolest stadiums in the country and to miss out on playing there would be upsetting.”

P: Ethan Greenberg, Pace Academy (’21)

“It’s always been a dream of mine to step onto a field where a professional NFL team has played on. And the only way for that to happen is for Pace Academy to make it to the state championship or for me to make it to the league. The game should be played at Mercedes-Benz stadium because that’s every football players’ dream to play there.”

Since the Braves moved out of Turner Field, the once sparkling Olympic Stadium quickly lost its charm, becoming only a shell of its former self.

After attending Atlanta Legends AAF games and seeing behind the scenes, it was evident that the new venue of the GHSA state championships could use some upgrades.

Georgia High School players not happy at all about this move.

Well it sucks that the players feel that way but it's also understandable. Regardless, this is good for GSU no matter how you GS fans want to spin it.

Good for GAST in that they finally will have a chance to take pictures of their stadium with fans in it 03-lmfao

All jokes aside, a poll shows that a majority of people prefer the title game be moved back to the high school sites, so I'm willing to bet that happens in the next few years anyway.

RE: GSU Stadium new site for state high school championship
In Alabama the championship games are rotated between Alabama and Auburn, each school host opposite of the Iron Bowl. As a Jag, I’d love to see our new stadium added to the rotation, as parent of a high school football player I love the idea of these kids getting to play at Bryant Denny or Jordan-Hare. Let’s face it, for 99% of the kids that play in the high championship games, this is their only chance to ever play on those two fields, and for parents to see them play on those fields. As nice as any SBC stadium may be, they will never be Alabama or Auburn.

Who the heck is saying it isn't? That post was about what high school players think of it.

The reality of the situation is that the Georgia Dome used to host the state semifinal games for all classifications and then that got whittled down to just hosting the championship games. This is just a further whittling down of the venue for the state finals and that's pretty much how everyone in the state is going to view it now matter how people posting here just to spite GS fans want to spin it.

Georgia High School players not happy at all about this move.

This writing had a feel of a response online blog to the AJC article... naive statements, poorly proposed arguments, weak support to substantiate his claims, etc.. then I realized the writer is a high school sophomore.

Those HS football players merely said that they were disappointed to not play in the MBS, one of the best stadiums in the world (duh, I'd be disappointed too.) They said nothing about GSU Stadium not being able to fill the needs of the GA State Championship. The only negative sentiment about the GSU Stadium is from the writer, not the HS players. While it most definitely suffers in comparisons to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium or the SunTrust, GSU Stadium is still million times better than any high school venue and more than adequate to host the high school championship games. To paint a whole picture so to speak.. why didn't he contact anyone from the GHSA and GSU to gather some insights? How do the HS coaches feel about the GSU Stadium, since some notable HS coaches already experienced the GSU Stadium at the Corky Kell Classic? Why didn't he ask more direct questions toward those HS athletes about what they expect/want from the GSU Stadium? etc.

The author uses the narrative to fit his negative preconception about the GSU Stadium. Obviously he isn't very familiar with the ongoing upgrades at the GSU Stadium for the next few years. ex.) while criticizing about needed upgrades on the "ex-Turner Field" (duh, it's 20yrs old), he fail to mention that GSU is spending money to bring it up to speed in modern times. He doesnt even mention the phase 2 constructions with the new football ops center, new ribbon board, and the new jumbotron that should be ready by the upcoming fall.

Can you even imagine players responses if it were being held in Paulson? ?

I don’t know how you can get much worse than “I’d rather just play at a high school”

Nice deflection. You'd have the same responses basically. MBS vs anything isn't even a question. Nice try as always.

RE: GSU Stadium new site for state high school championship
I'm just curious as to why they interviewed someone from my alma mater (Kennesaw Mountain)... This fall will mark our 20th season of varsity football and we've still never even made the state playoffs. Not sure why anyone on the team would be worried about where the state championship game is being played.

I look forward to seeing how the GPB announcers handle calling games when they can only be sure about where exactly the ball is on 1/4 of the field since they'll be sitting 30 yards behind the back corner of one end zone.

Sorry should have stopped at quit deflecting, it's one of your main tactics.

No one hurt me, I'm good, just calling out your constant bull**** that overflows from your keyboard that tarnishes the Southern fan base. Sometimes it's entertaining overall, so props there!
