The North/South debate in the expansion thread inspired me to dig a little deeper; this is what I found:
National Champions.
In the last couple of decades, we can break down championships into teams where they say Y'all and teams where they don't:
Y'all Teams: 17
You Guys Teams: 3
Clearly, Southern culture includes football culture.
Speaking of culture...
Conference Realignment misfits.
Some people like to point out that there is a bit of a North/South strain within the ACC - which, before 2004, was strictly a Southern conference. I don't think there's nearly as much strain as people think, and I'd counter it by pointing out other factors which make sense of the newest additions, but... strictly from a Northern/Southern point of view, there are some teams which seem out of place after the last round of conference realignment. However, that's true of every Power 5 conference except the Pac-12, as shown here:
Conf Mainly Misfits
ACC "Y'all" BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Notre Dame
B1G "You Guys" Maryland
SEC "Y'all" Missouri
XII "Y'all" Kansas, KSU, ISU
