Simple is a more appropriate description of something else...

1st part, yes, we should have dumped East Carolina and maybe Tulane and gone after BYU and Boise years ago. But our commissioner is not a risk taker, he didn't even let our TV contract get out of the negotiating window with ESPN.
2nd part, come on 2008, you know better than that. Notre Dame and Louisville are making tons of money, have their own channel starting in August, and have signed their GOR to the ACC until the mid-2030s.

RE: 7 college football programs that have earned a spot in the Power 5
Just another amazing internet article, Northern Illinois! Regular ole Illinois has no business in the P5, let alone Northern Illinois. Maybe he should have included Southern Miss or Stoney Brook. Northern Illinois averages 10,000 (which is almost 50% capacity, we average over 10,000 more than they have seats for) for football games and 1,200 for basketball, yep 1,200. On careful consideration, since they have won a couple of MAC titles and beat Alabama 15 years ago, I do think they should be allowed into the BIG10.
Oh yeah,
"NIU had to purchase 56,345 tickets for a whopping $273,619 in order to comply with the regulations and hit the minimum number of paid tickets for each home game."
NCAA requires an average of 15,000 minimum and NIU lied, were audited and made to pay.

Boise State paid money to get out of having to join the AAC. BYU has even less reason to want to join.

Please. Boise signed the deal in 2011 when it was the Big East, not the AAC, and the Big East still had the automatic BCS qualifier. Things were totally different by the time the AAC was formed and the Big East quit playing football.
"The school also noted that the Big East failed to add football schools west of the Mississippi River and lost more than 78 percent of its membership between Dec. 6, 2011, and Dec. 31, 2012.
"Boise State worked diligently to try to salvage the Big East Conference and help lead it into the future, but in the end the changes and losses proved too great to overcome,” Boise State Athletic Director Mark Coyle said last April.'"
Fast forward to today, and the Mountain West's TV deal pays $1.1M per year per team, and could go much lower. CUSA went from $1.1M per school to $200K per school two years ago when CUSA renewed its contract.
Point is, things change. Boise can now make a lot more with the AAC than with the Mountain West.

Let's see, play a decent OOC schedule and we could be in the mix
If Bowen can't do this get someone who can, is Florida Atlantic a.d. available
How about south Florida, these Florida Dudes make things happen, hell hire one of their assistants

Dude give it up.
Rudd's already come out and stated that scheduling P5 OOC is a priority for us going forward.
You are so freaking old.

The list is based on winning percentage from 2009-2018. Memphis didn’t show well in the early years of that time frame. If the program stays on the current trajectory, the Tigers will make the next one...though that would mean still on the outside looking in.

Do not care who you add the current P5 conferences are NOT going to add another conference to their private party.
The only chance of getting P5 status is an invite to a current P5 conference. But do not be surprised if after the next round of expansion that it is not P4 conferences.

No changes would be made based purely on winning percentages
What schools are most attractive today, regardless?
Likely some of the same
Houston
UCF
Cincy
BYU
Boise State maybe
Perhaps is if we can have 35k plus football attendance which we need. Talking butts in seats. 40 would be better. Basketball needs 15k butts in seats, especially next season

Sounds good to me! Mainly I was just pointing out how the list was compiled and why Memphis didn't compare well. Thought the flaws were obvious given the methodology used to proclaim a set of schools deserving solely based on 10yr winning %...but anyone can write anything they want. Really nothing for Tiger fans to be concerned with...not a hit piece re: Tiger fball.
