It looks a lot more expensive that way. 03-lmfao

I can't see paying for a full season at $150, or $30 Month.

I might have tried 12.5 for a few months.

The Big Ten/14 was listed under a number of different sports. Looks like they have basketball and volleyball as well, but that's all I looked at.

Is this the price PER SPORT (eg FloHoops separate from FloFootball)? Its not real clear based on their websites that you get access to all of them for one price. If this a per sport price, this is closer to cable TV "season pass" subscription pricing than normal sports channels.

The difference is this is hardly the B1G's primary service, it's probably their 3rd or 4th level tier for the diehards that don't mind paying a premium to see the less-celebrated teams/sports/matchups.

How could FLO possibly promote our brand better than ESPN? Maybe I would have viewed this more of a win if the price undercut ESPN but not sure I get it.

Either way, glad we are at least trying more options.

It is not per sport it includes all sports and I believe there are like 24 different channels. I subscribe to floWrestling and have access to everything. They also do lots of specials and original content. For wrestling they have a ton of free content and also pretty much the brackets for every tournament in the country in real time.

RE: CAA Streaming Deal with FloSports
Not sure I had seen this mentioned that we will be getting additional regular season basketball games on linear TV. from the release:

The partnership with FloSports highlights a comprehensive broadcast strategy unveiled by the conference. The CAA has expanded upon its agreement with CBS Sports Network that will add a regular-season linear TV package in men’s basketball in addition to the network continuing to broadcast the semifinals and finals of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Westwood One will continue to provide national audio coverage of the tournament championship game and FloSports will carry the early rounds through the quarterfinals on FloHoops.

If you live in DC United Territory (DC, MD, DE, and certain parts of VA) you can get Flo Sports for $8.99/month...if you pay annually

Big Sky Channel on PlutoTV is actually kinda cool to see their dedicated channels. I guess they have production equipment and CAA needs Flo to help production? And its free. Im guessing Flo gets most of the $12.50 per month.

Solo hawks coming in clutch! It may still be cheaper at the $12.50/month rate for only the months you care about (football or basketball season). The caa tweet made it sound like that’ll be a monthly price option in July.

CAA Streaming Deal with FloSports
I’ll wait to see what the content coverage and final cost is in July but initial impression is very underwhelmed.

It’s very clear at this point that Joey D has no interest in bothering to pursue ESPN3/+ at this point, which would be an absolute deal compared to this.

I think this deal has limited appeal to those of us who would use Flo for other sports. Otherwise, very meh. Although the word from league office is it is $12.50/month, no commitment needed.

I dont believe the league office. No where does Flo offer monthly subscription rates at discount price. All discounted prices i have seen are IF you pay annually. Why would FLO give CAA better treatment than DC United?

This is a helpful article from Madia that goes into a bit more detail on the FloSports deal after he spoke with JMU representatives.

This is an absolute joke compared to an ESPN3/+ deal . Wont be many people paying more than they already do per month for Hulu/Netflix/Showtime to watch CAA sports. Putting more CAA events behind a paywall does nothing to help.

D’Antonio has to be redundant by continually saying “linear” before TV/television.

This sucks for me. Only JMU sport I watch is football (outside of rarely catching another sport on TV). Games I’m missing:
Sept:
-Morgan St (Should be only home game I miss). Planned on watching on Madizone for free. Not paying $30 to watch 1 game. Maybe I’ll be able to listen to the Madizone audio. Will that still be available? If not, I’ll check scores the next morning to see how much JMU blowed out Morgan St by.
-@ UTC -aren’t all So-Con games on ESPN3, or is that only conference games?

Oct:
@ SBU & @ W&M. If one of those is on TV, or if I’m at work for at least one, I’m not paying $30 to watch the other one online on FloSports. It would be audio if possible.

RE: CAA Streaming Deal with FloSports
TV 3 (Harrisonburg) at 6 pm had a poll asking if JMU fans would purchase a subscription to this and the result (at 6 pm) was 94% NO; 6% YES.

Admittedly early, but not a good first impression.

If the CAA/JMU and FloSports were smart, they would roll out a big promotion in August offering a decent discount for those that sign up during that month. With JMU's social media footprint, that would be an easy sell. Don't know about the rest of the CAA, but don't really care either.

I’ve seen the CAA’s social media accounts comment that it is going to be $12.50/month with no annual subscription required for that rate. I’ve seen this in multiple replies too.

I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt but they better make sure their ducks are in a row there. It’s still more than double the cost of ESPN+ and likely nowhere near the quality.

It sounds like it’ll be school produced feeds distributed by flosports.

It appears that some of the allure here is the fact that unlike an espn who would own all rights this deal keeps the linear rights with the CAA.

RE: CAA Streaming Deal with FloSports
It isn't spelled out if this package includes non-conference games. For FB, 12 teams playing an 8 game conference schedule comes to 48 games. If it's only for conference games, then they may have just rounded up to 50 for the press release. Or if it includes non-conference, assume 2 home games per school, which gets to 72 total games. If that's the case then more than 2/3rds of the games will fall under the package.

If they end up offering it for 12.50 per month (no commitment), then one could start the package in the 3rd or 4th week of September and use it for two months, just enough to capture the CAA schedule. Getting decent streaming access (which remains to be seen) to all CAA games, including JMU road games, for $25 is something I might jump on. Road game viewing options always seem to be a crap shoot.
