SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Boston’s Fenway Park will host a new bowl game starting in 2020 featuring football teams from the Atlantic Coast and American Athletic conferences, sources told Stadium.

Fenway Park will join Los Angeles and Myrtle Beach as sites for new bowl games in 2020, which marks the start of the NCAA’s new bowl cycle.

I'm calling it right now.

UC v. Virginia Tech

Why not? ... we've played in every other bowl game.

This is such a home run shot bowl.

Boston College vs UConn at Fenway? Fantastic? That’s why they wanted this I’m sure.

But since UConn will struggle to get the wins...Temple vs Pitt would be solid.

The ACC needed another bowl in New England. Not a fan of the matchup against the AAC though.

Another? what was the first one?

Also, while I'm not overly excited about the possibility of watching a bowl game at Fenway in the dead of winter... it sure beats Wrigley Field in Chicago by a mile!

Boston as a destination is great but playing outdoors in late December in a baseball stadium is a no-go.

Sounds like Boston is trying to keep up with the Yankees.

This is where I'm at.07-coffee3

I don't mind the local, but the opponent leaves me wanting...... esp. if it's below the #4-5 spot in the AAC we will be getting.03-yawn

RE: New ACC Bowl at Fenway
Beginning in 2020, the ACC will have a maximum of 10 bowl bids in addition to its CFP/NY6/Orange Bowl arrangement. Adding this bowl leads to the question, what bowls these will be.

For 2019-20, our bowls are 1) CFP/Orange Bowl; 2) Citrus (only if a B1G school is selected to the Orange Bowl); 3) Camping World; 4a) Belk; 4b) Sun; 4c) Pinstripe; 4d) Music City (our Gator Bowl appearances are used up); 8a) Independence; 8b) Quick Lane; 8c) Military; 11a) Gasparilla (conditional); 11b) Birmingham (conditional)

The ACC's 2020-21 lineup potentially looks like this now: 1) CFP/Orange Bowl; 2) Outback (only if a B1G school is selected to the Orange Bowl); 3) Camping World; 4a) Belk; 4b) Sun; 4c) Pinstripe; 4d) Gator; 4e) Holiday; 9a) Fenway; 9b) Independence; 9c) Quick Lane; 9d) Military. Assuming the Outback doesn't count against the ACC's 10 maximum bids, this would fill up the slate.

I'm guessing you didn't ace geography class in school.

New York isn't New England just like West Virginia isn't the South. Which is to say largely a technicality splitting hairs where there's mostly cultural unison. Do you also consider Ft. Lauderdale the South? How about Fairfax, VA? I'm going with reality on the ground over the cold clinical reading of the definition. New England doesn't end when you leave Massachusetts. The Mid-Atlantic doesn't end when you cross the Potomac. You can go further South yet end up traveling culturally far north. Etc.

Every time Boston College and UConn are eligible they’ll play in this game. Who knows how much that is though. I like it, Temple and Cincy are good games too.

What is "The South"? Easy. If your state fought for the Confederacy, then it's in "The South". Otherwise it's in "The North" or mid-western or etc. Texas is has a foot in The South and The South-West. 07-coffee3

NY City isn't New England. It is Mid-Atlantic or more generically Northeast

Once you cross I-4 and keep heading South you go rapidly further north, specifically NYC-centric north. I-64 is the modern Potomac.

Well nobody would mistake El Paso and Miami as Southern even if their respective states were part of the Confederacy. Like GTS said, it’s more of a cultural thing than geographical.

RE: New ACC Bowl at Fenway
My assumption this will be added to the Lower Tier, with Detroit, Military and Indy bowls. Indy is probably the only bowl I can see the ACC leave. Could see Birmingham or Dallas replace them. What I would love to see, SEC/ACC split Sunbowl vs PAC12 and Memphis vs B12. Then have Birmingham replace Indy. Doubtful it would happen but I could see CBS liking to have the SEC in there three times.. Also, provides another ACC vs B12 matchup three times a year.

I would love to visit Boston, but not in mid-December. Maybe that game game could be played as a pre-season bowl, when the sightseeing could be more comfortable.
