RE: KSU Men's Basketball Recruiting Class 2019
Maybe Pippen will be the next to go! The constant turnover of players, and not just at Kent State, really makes it hard to be a fan. Supposedly vendors hawking programs at baseball games long ago used to shout, "You can't tell the players without a scorecard!" That is certainly becoming true in college basketball. And it's not good for the aesthetics of the game for long-time basketball fans. Sure, the athleticism of the players is better than ever. But it used to be that when a large group of players were together for a few years they could almost read each others' minds on the court.

If the source is that good, I'm guessing you know what happened???
So is/was it a 'truly serious' issue ... or is it 'serious' because these guys are scholarship athletes in an elite sport.
Just curious ...

RE: KSU Men's Basketball Recruiting Class 2019
To divert the conversation a little bit, I would imagine that if Coach, in evaluating the year and next season, saw great value in the players that are leaving, he would have worked hard to keep them. I am guessing that he saw that there are at least half of the MAC programs that have committed to better coaching and recruiting and the team that he had coming back was not going to cut it. We have seen that some programs have remade themselves almost over night with jc's and grad transfers. I have confidence that if Sendy did in fact kind of admit that he had made several recruiting mistakes, he will right the ship pretty quickly. BTW, I am not convinced that Pipen is what we really want him to be. Yes, he is long and athletic, and we have seen a hint of what he could be. I am just not sure that he will bring the leadership and IQ to the game that a upper classman should. I sincerely hope that he serves me a helping of crow at the end of the season.

I know what happened and it wasn't that big of a deal. In fact, if it were years ago when smart phones (and video) didn't exist, it would have been "nothing to see here".

As a long time fan of college hoops I feel that you have hit the nail on the head - I've said so in the past. It was nice this year to see U Va win with a team on which their players returned after a poor end to the prior season. I would add that coaching "loyalty" probably contributes by setting an example. I don't see things getting better - I expect that over half our team will be new faces and that there will be players on the bench who may see action in early season exhibition games and never see on our court again. I'm guessing they think pretty highly of him with only two post players returning and 2 freshman posts already signed. It stands to reason that the 5th big would be a juco/transfer so offering another 4 year guy tells me they really like him. He looks like he's got some long arms.

Personally ... do not consider Bainbridge a 'post player' and this kid does not look to be one either.
Unless ... (and I personally think this is the case) ... Senderoff is starting to transition the team into a new direction, still think Kent could use another 'true' post player.

Luke appears to be a true stretch 4.

RE: KSU Men's Basketball Recruiting Class 2019
By calling both of them "post players" I meant playing at the 4 or 5 not that their offense will come in the low post as traditional back to the basketball players. And at 6'9"+ they would both be 4/5's in the MAC. I agree that Bainbridge also seems like a stretch big but I'd be willing to bet we'll never see him playing the 3 position.
I would argue that Whittington is a what you're referring to as a "true post player". And if he works out that's what Bennett projects to be. Having a good balance between the two is important in today's game. You almost have to have at least one big out there that can stretch the floor at all times anymore.

Except for the one "true" pg, fallsdog. I'm so old I remember the big man playing a "high post"! Of course, it only worked if that big man could hit jumpers from that position.

We offered a PG over the weekend. Played 2 seasons at JUCO and spent last season at Portland State where he was their 2nd leading scorer. He would appear to only have 1 year of eligibility left, and I assume would have to sit out this year, so this is an interesting move.

Well, they have until May 15th to sign two more players. After then, I'm not sure when a player can sign.

There is a kid on campus as we speak. Luke Howard may be next to visit. I was once told, "be patient grasshopper".

I have no doubt that Sendy will sign two more players. My only concern is how good they are.

He shared a backcourt with former commit Ahmed Ali for two years in JUCO.
