The lades found that unacceptable and are protesting.

The idea of grass over turf sound very dangerous, expensive and stupid. How do you anchor it? We all have seen that new sod is unstable.
Aren't the notches supposed to keep the sod in place?

Buenos notches.

Just send them over to play the game at Burnett Woods. The city uses it for nothing at all, and it will be very similar to an evening in Caracas or Buenos Aires., albeit a little more relaxed.

"We don't want turf!"

Ok, we'll put a grass field over the turf.

"We don't want a grass field over the turf!"

...not sure what other options you have. Huge linemen and fast receivers alike use that turf with no issues. Soccer players acting so frail and snobby only fosters more resentment of soccer among those who already don't like it.

As long as they clean up their mess afterwards I don't care what they do.

Pretty much this.. between the soccer federation and on this thread, people b*tch and moan for the sake of it. They've been putting sod over turf forever. They did it at Ohio Stadium last summer when Manchester United played PSG.

Yep. I've never figured out why they are so picky about the surface when all they do is basically run in circles and kick a ball back and forth for 90 minutes. I've run on all types of surfaces and new field turf is smoother and more consistent than most natural grass fields in my experience. It's not like these big babies are getting tackled or anything.

The silly reactions by people to something they don't care about anyway is more head scratching to me, frankly.

Field Turf is terrible and it is an abomination! Sports should be played on real grass!

I love football however most of the world considers it to be a sissy sport since they wear Helmets and Pads. They consider Rugby to be a real mans sport since they don't wear Helmets and Pads. Plus Rugby is 80 minutes and it takes 2 hours compared to Football, they don't have timeouts and commercial breaks.

Professional Soccer players are extremely fit and they play year round. I played Soccer and Baseball in high school and Soccer was way tougher, I sprained both my ankles and had 2 Concussions compared to a sore elbow Soph year in Baseball.

They are sissies compared to professional bicycle racers. Those guys come back in two months from broken bones that would end the career of many other athletes.

Does anyone remember the original PBS field. Layers of sand and gravel and soil with heating pipes, etc. A totally abortion. After several years the gave up and put in field turf.

Or when O$U tried the grass thing. By November it was a cow pasture.

Does anyone see the irony in anonymous internet message board posters complaining about Soccer players being sissies?

No more ironic than someone who is an anonymous message board poster complaining about people who anonymously post on message boards.
