How can you expand that stadium capacity to 55k temporarily?

I think you'd bring in temporary bleachers on some of the open concourse areas you see in the renderings.

Great stuff. Coach Clark sees bigger and better things on the horizon for UAB and the City.

Bill Clark is Gene Bartow's true successor. Great coaches, great men, and both with a vision of something greater for Blazer Athletics and Birmingham.

Quotes like these make me think he's not going anywhere for awhile.

Imagine if we keep legion field standing when this stadium is built. Both the magic city classic and a UAB game on the same day for the city.

I figured the 10k of temporary seating was intended for the classic

Tad Snider sounds like it should be the name of the antagonist in an Adam Sandler movie.

The classic currently has no plans to play at the new stadium.

RE: Downtown Stadium Naming on Thursday (& hopefully more)
Here's the highlights from Tad's interview:

- Utility relocation is 90% complete and was a $4M investment
- Survey work is complete
- Bid package for site grading should go out in a few weeks
- Bid package for structural work should be issued by year end
- Targeting a 2021 opening prior to the start of the football season (sounds like they may not open in time for the World Games)
- New stadium will have approximately 34 suites, club seating, and some open concourse areas similar to the outfield at Regions Field
- Haven't decided yet on whether the playing surface will be turf or grass
- Working on a parking plan/study now. Said the BJCC has bought some additional property to develop into parking and they'll release a parking/transportation plan "long before" the stadium opens
- Arena renovations will start after the stadium and hopefully be done in Feb 2022. Some of the construction work with the stadium will overlap and the arena will close during portions of the construction schedule
- Arena upgrades will include the addition of suites, more/better entrances, more concession options, exterior renovation, and upgrades to locker rooms/performer spaces. He said they've been in discussion with the NCAA about what the facility needs in order to be a tournament host site again

I hope it will accommodate soccer. It would be great to get some international matches here.

I go to a lot of USMNT games...it would be a crying shame if they arent able to accommodate some US games, bc they sure play in some crappy venues from time to time

USMNT requires grass fields so if we go with turf instead you wont see any USMNT soccer at the new stadium. And word on the street from the head grounds keeper at Regions is they are leaning towards Turf

They have played on turf, but it’s rare. Agreed that turf makes it unlikely to host the USMNT
(June 9 they are playing at Nippert Stadium, which I believe is turf. Whether they’ll lay grass over the turf—as they have sometimes done in the past, I do not know)

That is surprising they would play on turf after the big stink they have made about it. They wont go to Seattle's stadium, Portland, or Atlanta (although those are some of the biggest drawing crowds in our country) because of the field turf.

they will be laying a temporary grass surface at Nippert...
obviously, a grass surface would greatly increase the chances that the USMNT would visit Bham
