You can't make the same call to Graf every time the city or the school needs money. Where is International Paper's money? Servicemaster? Any of their spinoff companies? Autozone? The Redbirds got some of their money, give the city some more. Raymond James? The city is headquarters for several fortune 500 companies and several more have large operations here. You can't call Graf when you need a check. It is time for others to step up and help out.

Exactly what I was going to post. Give FedEx and even AutoZone a pass on this one. It's time for IP and ServiceMaster to step up in the community.

IP and SeviceMaster are active in the community. Just because their names aren’t plastered on sports stadiums and making donations to the athletic department, does not mean that they aren’t doing anything in the community.

Trying to figure out what this means for seating. Will we:
Sit somewhere in the middle? Not the left or right.
Be less governed to move freely throughout the stadium?

I like it tho. Let's move to implement. Or should we argue among ourselves until momentum is lost and the idea is forgotten (like the Libertarian Party often does)?

How about a much maligned organization trying to garner a little good P.R.

"The 201 Poplar Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium".

The timing doesn't seem right, but does this have anything to do with the new Jumbotron video board?

https://fansided.com/2017/05/23/half-of-...5-schools/

College program in a non-Power 5 League.

Barely top fifty market.

At most ten or eleven games (with at best four-five nationally televised).

The main tenant without rights to sell the naming rights.

Stadium already renamed to the annual bowl game.

There is NO WAY the Liberty Bowl could get a corporate sponsorship naming rights deal for business purposes for a million a year.

The University of Memphis in theory could get a naming rights deal for sentimental reasons as a way give a donation (like the Laurie-Walton practice facility) but the City owns the Liberty Bowl and may not agree to do that for the U of M. Of course no one is donating money to the City for naming rights to the building.

Maybe. Maybe not. Did you bother reading the story in the link?

Why do you think nobody would pay the city for the naming rights? Somebody would. It's just a matter of how much.

I looked at it before I posted. None of the examples seemed to involve a non-Power 5 playing in a city owned stadium.

BTW, it seems like you think we can get a deal like we got for FedEx Park. That’s not likely until a new football stadium is built. As long as the Liberty Bowl is city owned, can’t see a deal working out for naming rights.

City owned stadium for non-P5 team in barely top 50 market gets naming rights deal worth $1 Million annually....
