Want to give Bohn a little credit. I think overall this was a pretty easy hire, but he clearly had a process and was sticking to it. He didn't get sidetracked by what other influences wanted (former players, etc), and made the decision based on who he felt was the best option. Time will tell if thats correct.
By the way, really sad to see the former players being so negative. I expect it with some, but I always had a ton of respect for Terry and felt he was above that noise. I think it would be great if JB wants to add some alumni flavor to his staff, but that should 100% be his call. In theory I like the NVE assistant idea, but feel it could create an awkward dynanic.

RE: Mike Bohn
Yup, he made the correct decision and the easy one. But it required not giving into pressure to take either a high risk choice or a retread who was popular with the players. Way to follow the process and make the correct decision and not allow outsiders to influence it. I think it the long run this hire will pay off very well and we could have another successful coach who stays for 10+ years on our hands with Brannen.

Very impressive, esp. compared to the way UCLA's AD went about things.

This was handled so professionally, I've got a Bohner over it.

Yeah, Bohn kept everything quiet until the very end. The leaks only started happening 30 minutes or so before the announcement was made. Much more professionally done then UCLA.

RE: Mike Bohn
He seems like a good guy. At the spring game he was standing around the north end zone. He noticed that I noticed him. He then gave a smile and a wave. It means almost nothing in the big picture. He could of just looked away. That’s probably what I would have done, honestly. From what I can tell, he’s top notch all the way around.

RE: Mike Bohn
I give Bohn a ton of credit. He had a process and stuck with it. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what any of us think or former players. It's Bohn's butt that is on the line in making hires and he has to live with the decision. I think he learned from the Suckerville experience what a bad hire can do. Only time will tell if Brannen was the right guy but Bohn's not made a bad hire yet.

Actually, a lot of people overlook that Bohn was actually instrumental in negotiating a lower buyout with Tuberville. I was surprised when that went down the way it did and that we didn't give him another year.

I stand with Bohn. His hires so far have been good. I'm excited about Brannen.

I talked with him once. I am not a big donor to the school and he did not know me. After introductions and finding out I was only a parent of a band member, he kept talking to me for five minutes. I like him.

Good point. Yet another example of Bohn's prowess and why I'm glad he's our AD.

Huh, never thought of it that way. When Santa left, I liked Santa and disliked Bohn. But now it's the other way around.
I've soured on Santa since he left. I think UBC isn't very happy with him.
I didn't like the Bohn hire at first. It seemed like he did a mediocre job at Colorado, especially with their football program. But he's done great here.

He's been a port in the realignment storm. I hope he sees us through, for our and his sake.

Did someone not hire an AD, that took a school away from the B12, in hopes that the B12 would invite that school and their new AD?

Speaking of Bohn, apologies if this was posted elsewhere, but it looks like he visited our lone basketball recruit at home the day after Cronin bolted.

I echo the sentiments of others, I think Bohn is doing a great job here.

Do you like anybody associated with UC right now? Coach Fick even?

Yup... The Big XII stuck it to Bohn so bad that they also refused to invite UCF, Memphis, Houston, BYU, and several other schools with zero previous ties to the conference. They were also rumored to be trying to lure Nebraska back.
The BIG XII can burn to the ground for all I care.

Fick did well with Tommy's players. I have hopes he will continue though most likely this year's team will have a worse record even though they may be a better team.
Pinto? Who knows...very quiet dude.
Bohn? lol
Brannen - hope he does well.
Eric is a great tennis coach.
