We have to protect him and he has to protect himself. He's one of our keys to success outside of the defense. I'm a little more interested in how the younger QBs develop. We need three good options. I expect one to get banged up every year the way we use them.

Johnston is going to be one of those "God, is he *ever* going to graduate?" guys.

I'm excited to see Hopkins this year, I've heard he could be the best QB on the team.

Hopkins is for sure a Baker Mayfield kind of player. Just the all around mobile QB. Johnston is the proven winner and an absolute leader on the team to go along with a skill set that is exactly what we need. Lucero is probably the best pure QB of the bunch and has deceptive speed when he does run the ball. All of the QBs we have are good players that in my opinion would be starters at schools of the same caliber as UAB. Its crazy they all ended up at UAB. The competition will be fierce!

Sounds good. Building quality depth is a beautiful thing.
What I saw of Lucero against Hoover looked very good. Comes from a very competitive situation. No big fish in a small pond at IMG.

Johnston is leading us to 14-0 and a NY6 Bowl. I’m not drinking the kool-aid, I’m bathing in it. TJ3 is unstoppable.

We will beat them. The refs won't be able to save them

Damn right. Refs can’t stop Johnston from throwing 400+ yards and 5 TDs.

If we play UT last year, then we win by 10. Their Oline and Dline were dreadful. With a new Oline and Dline for UAB this year, its harder to call. At least its a November game and our new guys will be experienced by then. Of course, so will theirs.
Looking forward to the Blazers coming up here to Knoxville! Last I attended a UAB game in Neyland, we suffered through 5 missed field goals, any one of which would have won the game. It was the first and only time I ever saw my wife go nuts at a ball game. The little woman was quite impressive amongst a sea of stunned ugly orange, including our best friends whom we were sitting with. It was almost a great memory.

The worst part about Neyland is that the seats were meant for folks with much skinnier butts that their fans (or ours).

That season we played two SEC teams and I call it the 5 FG season. We lost at Tenn because we missed all 5 FGs and we lost at Miss State because they made all 5 they kicked. Both were close games decided by FGs.

I recall only game against the Vols and the Blazers had them beat going into the last seconds of the fourth, think they ran when they should of kicked or would of been a win. But any Way.
