How were we suppose to match Tulane's $5mil contract, $1.25mil per year?

Can't blame the guy for "Cashing In" Cha - Ching . . . .

RE: Ron Hunter to Tulane
Hunter made it work at Georgia State. Not sure if he will be able to make it work at Tulane. But here’s hoping. Hunter is about to turn 55. If he was ever going to make the jump to a multi-bid league, now is probably the time.

One undeniable fact: Tulane would never have been able to grab a successful Sun Belt HC when they were in C-USA. Tulane hired a Kentucky assistant (2000), a Maryland assistant (2005), and the HC at The Citadel (2010). The guy from Maryland, I’m convinced that would’ve worked out in ordinary circumstances, but Hurricane Katrina happened about 2 months before his first game. A strong coach but he couldn’t overcome that.

Anyway, this type of scenario is a perfect example of how Tulane is benefiting from its membership in the AAC.

RE: Ron Hunter to Tulane
Breaking. AD Cobb didnt want Ron Hunter here in GSU and didnt extend his contract. Hunter was upset all this year. Clearly they didn't get along. All goodwill that Cobb had built is gone now. What a deluded ******* if he thinks he can do better than Hunter.

After agonizing until midnight, he decided to take the Tulane job. Clearly we couldve kept him with lesser money if Cobb wasnt so full of it. Hunter loved Atlanta and Georgia State. No excuses for Cobb.

Cobb is clearly getting rid of all the previous hires and filling GSU with his friends from North Carolina. I've been trying to give this guy a benefit of doubt, but I'm so ******* done with him.

My only argument against this is that it wasn't the first time he has been offered that. Maybe he didn't feel like a priority at State.

The leak by Jeff Schultz says everything. This is 100% on Cobb.

Heard that he encouraged Simonds to leave early, pretty much knowing that he was heading out the door as well. I’m sure this happens all the time, everywhere, but it sucks all the same.

Let's be real, if the guy was going to double his salary the stuff about the extension is moot.

Charlie Cobb's contract expires on June 30th.

I’m really stunned the more I’m hearing about this Cobb/Hunter situation. Probably going to get ugly in the media.

Long story short, the Hunter family loves Atlanta and GSU. The plan was for him to retire at GSU and go into TV (likely TNT). If Cobb had even marginally sat down and worked out a deal that was not a slap in the face then we would not be having this conversation. But this is Cobb all day long. Bryan McClendon who went to Mays HS in Atlanta, interviewed here and walked out of the interview thinking he had the job. Cobb said , new, and hired his buddyy.
