You guys are always ready to jump on anything he says and take it as out of context as possible. I'm sure if he said nothing you'd ***** about how he won't talk to the media.

Haven't watched the press-conference, but I'm guessing he was talking about how Iowa was a very good team throughout the season who fell apart at the end of the year and manage to get it back together and play well in their NCAA tournament game.

Ok...did he expect to not play good teams in the tournament? Stop apologizing for his terrible excuses...subbing rotations that killed momentum, staying in a matchup zone when the opponent is hammering 3s left and right (something he has done all season), and basically forgetting Keith William's on the bench for a 12 minute stretch of the second half and putting two walking cones on the court when Iowa was making a run were all mistakes by him...yet he says he had it tough because he had to play a good team? Come on now...weve all about had it, every single person I've talked to in Columbus in the last 4 hours is done with him...no idea what else you need to see to know weve hit the ceiling under him.

Defense has been the issue with just about every tournament loss. We aren’t losing these games 65 -59. Our defense is torched in the 2nd half. That is a lack of talent and depth. Our top guys have no one that can come in and sub for them that can stop a run with buckets or shutdown d.

The thing that gets way overlooked with this program is how absolutely average our defense really is. The matchup zone is smoke and mirrors against lesser talent teams that can't shoot.

Back from wasting a ton on tickets.

Observations:

1. Refs suck
2. The clock timer needs a job at Walmart
3. I hope JC had the flu, if not her seemed totally disinterested
4. Mick is the Marvin Lewis of BB, never beyond the first week
5. Micks strong defense? 48 points in the second half
6. Mick out coached as usual as he never figured out how to negate the press at 3/4 court

Those other programs/coaches who made 9 straight make deep runs. I wish there were these opportunities for him. No one wants him except maybe a UNLV and he burned that bridge.

we are doing just fine. We lost to a very good big 10 team that shoots 3's exceptionally. Coach Cronin brought UC out of the ashes of oblivion after taking over a disastrous non-recruiting year by andy kennedy. We'll be just fine. We have the most victories over the past 3 yrs except for Gonzaga. 9 straight NCAA appearances, dude. Expecting uc to win the national championship every year is not going to happen. Kentucky doesn't even see that happen with all their money power and cheating. Maybe you would rather see UC in the NIT and winning that one. I DON'T THINK SO. Congrats on a great year, Coach Cronin, and next year might be even a better year. Continue with your recruiting of good, decent young men that love school. We see where Huggies is at now.

I don't expect a national championship every year, I would just like to be in contention once in a while. It's not going to happen under Cronin.

I would just like to make it out of the first weekend more than once a decade. Not really asking for much.

This year the defense has been bad for a Cronin defense all year. Last years defense was the real deal though, one of the best ever. Last year we just lost our composure in the second half and let Nevada dictate the tempo and style of play in the 2nd half. This game our defense was pretty bad throughout.

I can not figure out why Mick did not switch to Man to Man when the match up was getting torched???
UC was faster and should've been able to guard Iowa man to man. UC had issues getting torched on the 3 all season against good 3 point shooting teams.

Also Iowa got down but fought back...
McCafferty made adjustments and Mick didn't.
McCafferty > Mick

We were in contention last year. Yeah we lost early in the NCAA tournament, but we were widely considered a potential final four team. Next years team should be the clear favorite in the American and likely at least a 4 seed in the NCAA tournament.

This years team was never expected to make it out of the first weekend. Many of you were predicting we'd be lucky to make the NIT (and calling me crazy for saying we'd make the NCAA tournament). If you are going to be disappointed over this season, I'm not sure what to tell you. Very few teams are great every single year and those that are are paying their players.

Yeah, going deeper in the NCAA tournament would be nice. But that starts with the regular season. To make deep runs that aren't just luck (and you still need some luck), you need to earn a good seed. 8-9 and 7-10 match-ups are basically tossups, even 6-11 and 5-12 matchups aren't much better then 50-50. Cronin has show improvement in the regular season (89 wins over the last 3 seasons), he needs to continue that and it will eventually translate into tournament success.

No more a caricature then what seems like half the board that is ready to call for Mick's head after every loss. We went 28-7 in a year where quite a few (including yourself) said we'd be lucky to make the NIT. We had players develop into quality players who quite a few (including yourself) said would never be D-1 quality. It was an excellent season after losing three major contributors and a sign of better things to come after minimal player losses this year.

Lots of excuses. 1 Sweet 16 in 14 years. We can pay someone half of what Mick makes for those results. Last year he had a protected seed. He made history too. This year a great draw. 7 against a bad Iowa team. Blew a double digit lead once again. He was also playing 1 1/2 from home with a partisan crowd. He’s proven no matter the seed or location he cannot get it done.

Agree x 100. We also should have been seeded higher based on our record but our metics were really average. UC was basically a decent team that won a lot of close games that lost to another decent team today. No shame in final result, but the concern everyone has how does this program take the next step. Talent infusion would be a good start, modernizing to improve our efficiency numbers overall would help too.

Its more fun to reply to the first statement in a new thread.

HEY - WAKE UP - UC IS IN A MID-MAJOR LEAGUE!!!!!!!!

UConn won a national championship with the old Big East players. UC last went to the Sweet 16 with old Big East players.
Since then not much, and if a team did have a good year, they graduated their strength and missed the tourney, ie Wichita and SMU.

Fire Mick and you will get a Brian Gregory type of coach and become the Dayton Flyers. Well attended by the fans, but not enough money to really compete with the elite.

Its actually quite amazing what UC has done the last couple season with the one blemish of Nevada.

In the last 23 seasons, UC has only made it to the Sweet 16 twice. Our expectations playing in the mid-major AAC is way out of whack. Not only is 70% of our games in the AAC meaningless to Bearcatmark and the rest of the basketball computers and Quadrant-philes, it also damages are our seeding. If we could play Abilene Christian and then Wofford we might get to the 2nd weekend more often.

RE: CRONIN
With respect to Mick, the decision will be made by the monied class- the Lindner’s, The Sheakley’s, The Valentine’s etc- people who put up their money for the 5/3rd re-do. How do these people feel about the March results with this staff?

My guess is they will lean on him to make some changes in staff. If this off season goes by and there are no changes then we know the fat wallet crowd is happy with the way things are operating here.
