P5 still gets between $30-$50 per school so they are still a long, long, long way away from P6.

This shows there's a river between the AAC and the rest of the G5, and a gulf between the AAC and the Power 5. The people on the AAC board that thought they were getting 8 figures per school per year will be disappointed.

Interesting that this goes 12 years. That's after it's presumed Texas and Oklahoma leave the Big 12 and the Big 12 presumably backfills from the AAC. If the AAC loses members to the Big 12 ESPN could find the media rights are no longer worth what they're paying.

LOL. All of us do because he's a stud AD. You may need to focus on getting the call up and not getting left behind. You may not like the new lineup.

Memphis, Cinci, Houston and such...ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC.

the Big 12 is more financially stable than say the Pac 12.
The Pac is really hurting.
In fact...teams like Arizona State may jump over to the Big 12.
Texas will stay put..as no other P5 group will let them have their Longhorn network..and the massive clout they already have in the Big 12.
If the Big 12 does manage to lose Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State.... then leaving the AAC for the Big 12 wouldn't make much sense..as the rest of that league would be about on par with the AAC strength wise.

$1 billion in 12 years for 12 schools comes to $7 million a year per school, or did I miss something?

It would make a ton of sense... there's no way an AAC school wouldn't jump over to the Big XII. You'd be joining ranks with national basketball powers and some great football programs. There's no way anyone turns down an invite to a conference with West Virginia, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU, Iowa State, Baylor, and Texas Tech. Everyone knows Houston would go in a heartbeat.

Im becoming more and more convinced UT and Oklahoma arent going anywhere...certainly not the Pac12. Texas makes (with their third tier rights on the LHN) makes almost 50 million form media in the Big 12. Oklahoma makes about 42 million or so. I just dont think they will leave. They make great money, have fairly reasonable travel, play teams they have history with, get most anything they want from the conference, and have among the easiest paths in the P5 to the CFP. I think they will flirt with other conferences and use that leverage to get the best deal possible from their conference mates...and they will eventually stay put.

Ah, the fatal flaw in your argument is that what you wrote is logical. College.football is no longer logical. Both schools are only loyal to money. If they can make one extra dollar by moving to new conferences they will in a heartbeat.

It's about a million less than many of their fans convinced themselves they'd get and a lot more ESPN+ than they believed they'd accept.

It's a really good deal unless you thought you were getting $8 million per and no streaming of major sports.

Yeh, they've got their panties in a twist on the length of the contract, the money, and the distribution of games.

Honestly, I see the contract as a message to the rest of the G5 teams that if you put together a "super conference" then you might get more money from the TV gods.
