RE: ULM Accepts Invitation to CIT; Will Host Kent State in First-Round Game
(03-18-2019 11:43 AM)Bobcat87 Wrote: It's been a funny season, exceptional for us, and it's raised "our fan base expectations" to early unrealistic levels.
For example: speculating way too early about NCAA seeding, projecting ourselves as Regular season Champs before we'd clinched anything, speculating about our being a 1 or 2 seed in the Conference Tournament, again before we'd clinched anything. At the time of speculation, it might have been legit. But we failed to make any of it happen, ending the season with a whimper.
It wasn't unrealistic at all to expect a minimum of a share of the regular season title when you have a 1 game lead in the standings with 2 to go.
A lot of the talk wasn't speculation though and more just laying out what's at stake going into a specific game. Both in our games and others around the conference and I think it adds to the excitement of each game. Otherwise, what's the difference between a game coming down to the wire vs. the season opener? Scenarios and possibilities are what makes the end of the season fun and I have no issue with discussing them.
I think its important to know what you need to do to be a conference champ. Or to be a 1 or 2 seed. And knowing all that information makes each game that much funner when you are aware what's at stake. Otherwise, you're just the wife or girlfriend at the game with no clue what's going on other than what's happening on the court.
As far as the NCAA:
People love bracketology for a reason. In a couple weeks you'll probably have some people trying to project the 2020 bracket. If TXST is ever in the major projections, its safe to assume there will be talk about it. And I'm sure that's the case for the other 352 D1 teams in America.

I dont disagree with you Bobcat87.
All I said was "it would be nice."
It would be nice to beat FIU
It would be nice to redeem ourselves against Drake.
It would be nice to win the whole thing.
It would be nice to win the conference title next year.
All those are likely accurate statements if you are a fan. The only speculative take is whether it would be nice to accomplish these things.
I dont think that's getting ahead of myself.

NP, I stand corrected . . .
. .. have to admit I got caught up in the "hype" a little myself. Really wanted to see us take the Regular season, and the #1 (or 2) in the Tournament . . . .
. . . and then we crapped the bed. Guess at this point I don't want to get too far in front of my own skis . . . .
Speaking for myself: Here's to taking care of the business in front of us.

If we are still talking about ULM, I think it’s on CBSSports Network. No offense, but can y’all move the Texas St. talk to the thread on y’all’s game?

Yeah noticed that too. No clue what that's about. ULM produced their own content for ESPN+ all season so I know they could produce it for watchcit too if needed.
