The NIT slate for Tuesday is much more compelling than the first batch of First Four Games in the Big Dance. I know what I'll be watching, just have to decide between Campbell @ UNCG or NC State @ Hofstra.

Here's a crazy question. When is the last time UNCW played in the NIT?

It seems we're either really good and make the NCAA tournament or really bad and get nothing.

UNCW has only been in the NIT twice, last time was 2000-2001.

We've been lucky that in the last 20 years, usually if we have the best team they haven't slipped up in the conf tourney

How does she believe that is good for a major conference? Then listing all of the highly ranked teams they lost to. She is out of touch with how it should work, even if that normally is how it works

She's a joke. Plan and simple. No other way to put it.

Overall, Debbie Yow's tenure in Raleigh has been a success. However, this and the "pay for play DSJ Scandal" will leave a little blemish on her time there. She has left the football and basketball programs in a better position then she found it. The new AD they have coming in from West Point will bring in a much needed breath of fresh air.

Ahhhhh. Will he retain the likes of KK, or will he (like many ADs) want his own man running the show and move the basketball program in a different direction? Interesting what the future may hold in Raleigh as Yow departs.

From what I've heard, Yow wanted another year. The DSJ scandal cost her that. She wasn't gonna go out quietly with this NCAA Tournament "snub" stuff. It's just not her style, if you've payed much attention to her tenure at State or her previous employer Maryland it shouldn't come to you as a surprise... You know it's funny, I met Kay Yow several times growing up and she always seemed to be so nice. I definitely don't get that vibe from Debbie lol.

Haha Gary Williams DESPISED Debbie Yow.

Slimeball? Could be abrasive to some, but was well liked and respected as a coach.

Well you could elaborate on why you think he is a slime ball? Nothing I have ever seen or heard make him a "slime ball." He did things the right way as a coach.

Just because Maryland beat UNCW in the NCAA Tourney doesn’t make him a slimeball, if that’s where you’re going.

Apparently you weren't at the UNCW-Maryland tournament game and saw Williams' actions after their miracle game winning shot.

Correct, I was not at the game. What exactly were his actions?

He may be highly respected by some coaches, but I don’t respect any coach, especially one coming off a national championship who acts like that when he needed a miracle to beat a lesser ranked team.

It’s not that we lost. It was his reaction to winning. Sign of poor character in my book.

You think what you want about him though, but I’ll reserve the right to retain my opinion of the man.

Plus the coaches on his tree tend to end up jerks. One of his assistants took the Loyola (Md) job and spent one full game double teaming Curry for 40 minutes. His reason? “We’re Loyola, no one will remember we lost. But they WILL remember we held Steph Curry to zero points.” Great lesson for your team, coach!

Plus, Williams recruited ultra douche Greivis Vasquez.

I am fighting the urge to post the video from that game so you guys brought it up...

Yow was not good at Maryland either. Was not sad to see her leave.

For those paying attention NC State is a 9.5 point favorite over Hofstra tonight.

If you do, I promise you it'll be the last post on the UNCW boards you make. This is one of those situations where brothers and sisters squabble and fight but when someone else outside the family makes jokes they get crushed by all of the fam.

I like you, but I promise I won't tolerate that.

That’s fair. But I’m not gonna call a coach a slimeball for an unsportsmanlike reaction one time, especially when he is well respected in the coaching ranks.

I reserve “slimeball” for a Rick Pitino or Bruce Pearl.

Perhaps "slimeball" isn't the word to describe Gary Williams. But he's definitely a d**k.
