Gadsden, Estime, Fornes, and Cylla will need to step up as upperclassmen next year. Ty Taylor had a hugely disappointing season, I think he's going to transfer out. A lot of movement will happen over the next couple of months. I look forward to seeing what the staff can do during the spring signing period. Getting an experienced big should be the key priority at the moment.
I'm hopeful that aside form the likely player shuffling, getting an experienced big man, there will be some coach shuffling too. Not CB, but just hopeful for some kind of a shake up.
Agreed. While we have some good pieces, there are a lot of question marks going into this offseason... What will the staff look like next season, non-conference opponents (continue to make it tough or call up Claflin), who starts next season (3 & 5 positions should be open competitions). This thread might not be the best for discussing these matters though.
yeah, probably the expectations thread i started last week
Just started a new one for updates. Feel free to use whatever you so desire. I do like our self-policing of this being reserved for recruiting updates/chat.
We have gotten better as a whole at staying on topic/and/or creating new threads as needed. Used to be a crap shoot

This is the best I have seen him. He seems slimmer. Definitely looks legit.

He's gotten a lot better since the beginning of this season. Great job by the staff to get him to sign early, if he was still on the market I'm sure he'd have some P5 schools interested at this point. If McGrath would ever commit to running a zone defense, Imajae would flourish in the center. He could be a CAA DPOY candidate as early as next season IMO.

Easy now! I love his upside too, but it's a lot different blocking shots of guys the same size or bigger vs. mainly smaller guys. We have to see it translate to the next level first.

I understand that and it's definitely a stretch. I meant more so that he has the potential to be a DPOY candidate. He gets so high up when he blocks shots that it's hard to imagine that not being a major part of his game and a reason he could see a lot of playing time as a freshman.

RE: Recruit Updates
Nope, not holding back my excitement here. He did that against the #12 team in the state. And that includes all levels. I've been on the Dodd train ever since I saw video of him. I think he will fit right in early in our mid major program. I do understand that players may not acclimate to the next next successfully, but I'll take my chances with this kid. He is, right now, ahead of Cacok at his same time as an incoming freshman. He may hit the wall early. But I'm betting he doesn't.

I think he'll wind up being very good. I'm just not ready to anoint him D POY just yet until i see it translate to the next level. There is certainly reason to be excited about him.

Exactly... He's quite a bit ahead of where Cacok was when he got to campus, physically and his skill set. Cacok's ability to work/play harder than everyone else is what made him so good. Time will tell if Imajae will have a similar work ethic to DC15.

Sounds like he's made major strides since the start of his senior season, so that's a good sign in that category. Doesn't seem too complacent, and that little chip on his shoulder too.

with our lack of depth in the front court, i just don't see any scenario of him not playing significant minutes.

He looks CAA ready to me. Most important factor is that he can handle the ball and drive to the basket as a big man. Next, he isn't 6'11", but he has length and a nice wingspan to block shots AND likes to block shots. Hard not to get excited about him in a Seahawk uniform.
He could very well be a starter by conference play.

Wow. We got a steal. CB absolutely needed this. I said I was going to be a "prove it to me on the court" fan this off season but DAMN that kid is legit. Decent handles, too. Only knock is a little lazy (tired) running the court at times. Won't be tolerated at the college level though.

RE: Recruit Updates
So no recent news on the 2019 class, but UNCW was at Liberty Heights yesterday to see 6’6 2020 Kahari Rogers. We at least know the staff isn't wasting any time hitting the recruiting trail. I could only find one little write up on Kahari, looks like he transferred down to Charlotte from the NYC area to play prep ball. According to twitter, he holds an offer from Arizona State.
"Kahari Rogers, 6-6, 2020, He’s an athletic wing that his know to fill it up from beyond the arc. Right now he’s attracting mid-major interest"

That's some serious size for a shooter like that. Talk about stretching the floor. I like it, and we have no reason to doubt our recruiting success thus far. Nice to see they'r'e already looking to make moves on the 2020 class.

Phenom Hoops just published a little write up on Rogers today. Imagine that!
Kahari Rogers is the Best Shooter in NC
"He stands at a lengthy 6’6”. He is an explosive straight-line athlete and he has a smooth, pure, repeatable jump shot with deep range. There is not much to not like with how his game will translate moving forward. It will be interesting to see what level he ends up at, he fits the modern looking 3 & D type player, which tends to translate at every level."

The JUCO Division 1 National Championship tips off today in Hutchinson, Kansas. UNCW target Donte Tatum and Cape Fear play in the first game at 10 a.m. I'd imagine multiple members of the staff are in attendance. This is where they found Ty Gadsden last season, plenty of available talent playing this weekend. I will post any UNCW related stuff I find.

I believe you have to pay to watch the games. I am just following along on twitter. Really hoping Cape Fear can make a run, they have a cool little back story with being displaced from the Hurricane. Played/practiced at a middle school gym in Wilmington until the final month of the season, I believe.
