But really... Would it?
Does NMSU (and for the sake of argument, UTEP) in the league all sports make us a two bid league for basketball?
If not, then would their football increase the conference's profile?
Because adding them would only mean splitting CFB money by more, increase travel for ALL schools, and making scheduling a little less fun (IMO) by having one less game per season (football) with the other division. Oh, and technically if they were all sports, then they would add more "western" voices to the discussions/votes for actions.
And while I'm all in favor of a more western oriented conference... It doesn't make sense to change that up for us (and UTA).
Originally, I wanted to invite NMSU all sports, and then an eastern school (or Missouri State, not eastern at all), but now that you get the same cash from the NCAA for 10 as you would for 12? I'm fine with 10. I mean, I don't think I'd want to even swap CCU for NMSU, on account I am a big fan of CCU's baseball. if NOTHING else changes, they are at least elite in a sport, while NMSU is not elite in any sport.
