RE: 2019 Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
If the conference isn't chipping in a good percentage to fund these late-season flights, then we shouldn't do this format.

Next year will be even wonkier with the pod system and first three tournament rounds on campus sites.

App WBB flew a charter to Troy and USA last weekend because there was a chance they would have had to play Monday.

The pod system isn't going to happen. You heard it here first.

I assume you know more than most of us. I guess it could work out great if we (LR) ended up in a pod with ASU and ULM. On the other hand, if TexSt is in a pod with CC or AppSt, the costs are going to be ridiculous- and for what reason?

The new NET ranking rendered the pod system useless. It will be more rewarding to play lots of bad teams and blow them out.

Yep if the pod system doesn’t help us get a 2nd team in or elevate the seeding of our 1 entrant the pod system is useless. Scrap it and stay with what we have now

Or just join a P5 conference. The only real way to get anything with that system.

The only thing we know for sure next year is the conference tournament format.

Sounds defeatist but I just don t see the Belt getting multiple teams in the NCAAs whether we use pods or not. The travel could be crazy. This year the pods would have been:

A— GaSt UTA GaSo
B— Texas St Louisiana Coastal
C— ULM USA Ark St
D- ApoSt Little Rock Troy

If I understood the POD system, you would use the standings with 2 games left (heck, I am probably wrong). But if that is the case, then UTA would have been in B and TX St would have been in A. May have been a swap with ULM going into B with that cluster that was the middle of the belt. I don't like the "locked in to one of those 3 seeds" type thing. We saw UTA jump 2 spots and Tx St drop 3 over the last weekend. Just play out a balanced schedule or increase conf to 20 games at least.

I think you are right— the pods would be set up after16 conference games.instead of pods maybe we can negotiate scheduling agreements with other conferences.

You understand the system but results wouldn’t be the same. You’d play your division twice the other once, so you’d have to trade the last set of games between the Texas and Georgia schools out for Georgia’s playing app and coastal again and Texas playing the Louisiana schools again

Got you. Still the option of some big swings. I would prefer a system to play everyone twice and seed from there, but that is a 22 game schedule.

The league is going to want between 18-20 games given how difficult it is to schedule OOC games.

The league is watching CUSA closely this year. (They used the POD System this year) We'll most likely go with whatever they thought about the entire thing.

We played a game Tuesday. We just played a 40 minute dogfight with Louisiana. You haven’t played a game since last Saturday. You will definitely have an advantage over us.
