CUSA is going in the right direction. They need to get it down from 12 to 8 though. Why should a team that went 2-16 in conference and maybe 5-25 over all be rewarded in playing in the conference tourney.

I agree with eight teams in the tournament. Charlotte needs to stop rebuilding and start winning. CANT SEEM TO GET OVER THE DAMAGE DONE BY JUDY’S HATE FOR MEN’S SPORTS.

I do understand the Marshall fan who wants to limit it to 8.

Seriously, the conference this year is so wide open that anyone 1 thru 12 could win the thing.

Your 11 seed was still in the running for a for a 4 seed bye with just one weekend left in the round robin season.

I'm a proponent of 8 teams, 0 byes, and the higher seeds hosting as it plays out...

that setup minimizes travel, would yield decent attendance numbers, and reward wins within conference...

basically, it's a copy of the NIT format...

it would be simple to get her done in a week...

Im in favor of an 8 team format with the double bye like the OVC.

An advantage of this format if used for both the men's and women's tournaments is that only one court would be needed. Only two games would be played in each tournament the first three days with the two championship games on day 4.

clt says have 4 teams in the tourney and play both games at the same time

Top two teams automatically in semi finals, first round games at higher seeds home floors then both semifinals men and women play in Nashville and Frisco alternating years. Its not hard to figure out. If you cannot be in top 8 in CUSA you really do not deserve to even in conference tournament....

Because there is no way anyone is going to pay for an extra day of it to host our bottom 4 teams with 25 fans. That would downgrade the value, if there is any to begin with, significantly.

The Big Ten Tournament is in Chicago and both Illinois and Northwestern are playing in that play-in round. That will be attended, make a little money, and probably even be televised.

Going to watch very closely the attendance at this tournament. Someone please post it if you see it. Thanks in advance

Maybe it’s just me but I think having only eight teams increases the chances of a top seed getting knocked out in their first game.

I agree. The bottom four teams water down the tournament field as a whole. They don't belong. And without them, both the men and women could play under one roof.

Why even have a tournament then? 8 teams? It’s not the schools fault Conference USA fans are garbage and don’t support their schools or conference tourneys.

Its not right that a school with a losing record could get in the NCAAs either. But that's exactly what would happen if Rice or Middle got hot, its also not right for someone with a losing record in conference to go to the NCAAs and you can add FAU and N Texas to that list.

If you took the 1st 8 teams it would be:

1 ODU
2 USM
3 Marshall
4 WKU
5 UTSA
6 FIU
7 UAB
8 LA Tech

That is how the 1st 8 teams ended without the pods system. Do it like the OVC and the tourney looks like this:

1st round
LA Tech vs UTSA
UAB vs FIU

2nd round
Winner of LA Tech/UTSA vs Marshall
Winner UAB/FIU vs WKU

3rd round
Winner LA Tech/UTSA - Marshall vs USM
Winner UAB vs FIU - WKU vs ODU

Championship Game
TBD/TBD

Not in my model. Top two teams have double byes into semifinals and neutral site host of tournament...

When has a team ever below an 8 seed won this conference tournament. Why would you reward mediocre teams below 8?

I think as the top seed I'd rather play an eight seed in its first game than an 8/9 winner that has momentum and 40 minutes of getting used to the arena in game conditions.

I think we should go down to 8 teams. Having all 14 teams defeats the purpose of having a conference schedule. Why reward teams that wont do much in conference?
