Can we get a day reprieve, and move the final to Hartford or New Haven? I can't believe we've lived to see the day of an all-northern CAA final.

As for SN08 killing Joe, I mean there are a lot of good coaches in the CAA, McGrath not being one of them, but Coen and Mihalich definitely are. Skerry beats Coen a lot, does that make Coen a bad coach? Certain matchups will always just favor some teams. Congrats, the only thing McGrath has done right in his two years at the dub is beat Hofstra a few times.

Joe's universal knock is that he sells out for offense, it almost cost us today to be honest, and it's why he gets killed on the Hofstra message board. He's really just maximizing our talent in a somewhat unconventional way though. JWF is a stud, but there isn't a significant, or in my opinion, any, talent advantage Hofstra has over the rest of the league. Mihalich maximized his undersized, guard-heavy roster into the most prolific offense in school history. I'm not saying I love that system, or that Joe is some genius, but the guy is 21 games over .500 in CAA games at Hofstra.

This year he deserved COY, winning the regular season outright. Coen did a fine job too, I highly respect that program, but the guy who wins the most games usually gets COY. To say Hofstra has no chance to beat Northeastern tomorrow is stupid. We won the first one, and the truth is JWF came in with a shoulder injury for the second game, and re-injured it in the second half. Still think NE takes that one, they outplayed us, but maybe we don't have the abysmal shooting performance we did in Boston.

Can't wait for the game tomorrow, I think it's a legit toss-up, and it will probably be an ugly game after the two semifinal wars tonight. Hopefully someone is actually in the arena to watch it.

I really could care less about the COTY award. You’re right about the team with the best record usually wins it, but to be fair, Coen didn’t have his best player for 7 games and his 2nd best player only played 11 regular season games and we still win 20 and finished in 2nd. Hofstra doesn’t get a sniff of 1st place if JWF and Pemberton swapped places with Puscia and Occeus.

We don’t want to hear about JWF’s shoulder. Occeus didn’t play in that second meeting and we still spanked Hofstra. We’ve had more than our fair share of injuries this year.

Best of luck.

I think a (healthy) Northeastern team is the CAA's best one-bid representative. So good luck tonight!

I'm pretty hyped for tonight. I've got my dancing shoes on. 02-13-banana02-13-banana

That being said I am worried about JWF's ability to get to the rim..

Mihalich isn't even in the same ballpark as Coen, sorry. I agree he's better than McGrath.

How I would rank the league coaches:

1. Coen
2. Shaver
3. Grant
4. Spiker
5. Ingelsby
6. Matheny
7. Mihalich
8. Skerry
9. McGrath
10. Rowe

RE: The tourney
If Mihalich proves me wrong and beats NU tonight, he'll move up. But I don't see that happening. Mihalich doesn't really "out-coach" people. If they win, it'll because the players he recruited simply have monster games.

I like NE better but I think Hofstra is better for the league as the one-bid representative.

If NE wins tonight, they go to Michigan State again (isn't that who you had last time?), they play respectably .....but probably lose (with bad officiating probably being a factor).

If Hofstra wins tonight, then perhaps....perhaps....maybe....Justin Wright-Foreman goes absolutely bonkers in the NCAAT and the Pride steal a win .....all the while getting massive media attention because of JWF's heroics. That is the kind of attention that the CAA needs and I think that a Hofstra team with JWF gives the CAA the best chance of getting that.

So, if all the calls seem to be going Hofstra's way tonight, then that means that the CAA agrees.

I'll biasedly and respectfully disagree. I think NU is the CAA's best team, and the way we can shoot 3's and drive to the basket gives us a chance against nearly anyone.

Last time in the dance we played ACC Champs Notre Dame and had the ball in our hands down by 2 with 10 seconds left but turned it over. Still kills me that we didn't even take a shot to tie or win. Hoping to get a chance at redemption.

I see your point about JWF being the "star" factor though. I am not sure how much it matters beyond March since he's a senior though.

Oh, I agree that NU is probably the better team -- just that having a "superstar" seems to usually be the best chance for mid-majors to get wins in the NCAAT.

I just now turned on the "radio" right at halftime and I see that NU is leading by 16. Don't get too comfortable, though, because JWF laid, like, 37 points on W&M in the second half the last time they played. Good luck.

I know somebody played Michigan State and I remember it because the CAA almost always gets lined up against the ACC. Maybe it was UNCW or Delaware.

Feels good. Awesome shooting by Pusica. Glad we played so well in the 1st half because we were awful in the 2nd. Made enough shots to win.

Let's Gooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a lot of respect for Hofstra. It was just our day. It was impressive how they stormed back in the second half but equally impressive how we built the lead back up. Looking forward to watching them in the NIT.

Congratulations - I think your team (healthy) is our best chance in the Dance...hopefully you get a decent seed.

I couldn't watch...what did the crowd end up looking like?

I completely can believe we blew another 17+ point lead in this game. Thankfully we held on for dear life.

Green was huge in the semi's, Murphy was huge in the final. Proud of this team.

What a box score by Brace. 10/10/9 tonight. He's just an important player. All-CAA type player next year. Though I wonder how accurate the box score is, I noticed they credited two of Murphy's free throws to Green. Weird.
