Lol. So it comes down to baseball, softball and tennis. As a former UTA tennis player, I always enjoy our annual 10 minutes of relevance.

Not according to this. Scroll to bottom. Good luck this year. App State will be out of the running soon enough so having a new school win is the 2nd best after App winning the Cup, which is not happening this year I expect.

I need to go back and check a few things, but I have Little Rock at 44.5 and UTA at 56.5. My numbers match the SB numbers not including basketball so one of us (or maybe both) have a slight error in something.

In the current posted Cup standings, which go through the Indoor Track and Field championships, UTA has 35.5 points, Little Rock has 30. UTA was in a 3 way tie for 2nd in men's basketball, 10 points, and tied for first with Little Rock in the women's, 11.5 points. That's 57 points. Little Rock tied with Troy for last in men's basketball, 1.5 points, and 11.5 for women's. 43 points. 1 more point for women's tournament. 44.

I had WBK off by 0.5 points for the tie at 1st place. I think our numbers agree now and both agree with the SB website which includes basketball now.

I was already counting T&F. Unfortunately, our 15 points outdoors will not be enough, given TxSt's expected 18 (based on how they did indoors). Sadly, there is little to be optimistic about with our golf or tennis teams. This is a very tough conference in all four of those sports. Our best chance to ever win the cup is for us to add at least two more varsity teams, and you know what I mean.

Broken record, but...

This is what's maddening about being a UTA fan. At the end of the fall sports, we were 10th in the standings and 33.5 points behind first.

We are now in fourth, 15.5 points behind. If we had any kind of showing in the fall, we'd be in much better shape. Still have almost won it twice.

Next year, our VB team should score well in the Fall, but you're right, we could really use some more teams in the Fall.

1. Texas State (92.5)
2. Appalachian State (91.5)
3. South Alabama (88.5)
4. Texas-Arlington (83)
5. Coastal Carolina (81.5)*

8. Troy (69.5)
9. Georgia Southern (59.5)*
10.Little Rock (51.5)
11. Louisiana (51)
12. ULM (45)

Arkansas State wins the men's golf championship. 4 sports left, softball, men's and women's outdoor track and field, and baseball.

*I'm estimating that, since Georgia Southern and Coastal Carolina lost the match play semifinals, that they will tie for third thus splitting third and fourth place points. I'll correct it later if necessary.

Is there a rule that says how a tie for fourth is split. Official standings show UTA and ULM tied, despite ULM getting the match play tiebreaker. Other tied in the standings still split their points.

One thing that may happen is the points are given after the three rounds of stroke play and that is like the regular season and then the match play winner gets 1 point for winning the tournament.

That’s kinda what I was thinking too. UTA and ULM would get 8.5 and stAte would get an extra 1.

They've posted the standings on the Sun Belt site. They apparently gave Georgia Southern third place and Coastal Carolina fourth.
