Good call on him earlier in the season! He started slow getting acclimated to college basketball, but he has been quite consistent and impressive the 2nd half of the season. Love to see him driving to the basketball and not just settling for jump shots. Can't wait to see his progression next year.

You lead 46-38 at halftime. Gadsden any Cylla each made 3 of 6 field goals and scored 10. Ccaok scored 8 without a miss, but only had 3 rebounds. He committed his first two fouls 1:04 apart, and after his second foul with 7:33, he sat for the rest of the half. Gadsden, Toews, Estime', Fornes, and Sims were your five players without any forwards for a small amount of time. Toews, who has a majority of your assists for the season, has only 2 of your 9. There was a play where one of the announcers thought Toews should have gotten an assist, but he didn't. Estime' leads you with 3 assists, and he averages 1.3. Elon has made only 3 threes, leaving them 11 behind the CAA season record. Steven Santa Ana leads all scorers with 15, and leads Elon with 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

Evan, since you are a stats guy, do you know the percentage that each CAA team will lose from seniors in terms of minutes played this season?

Cylla has quietly really been a man in this game. But if I were McGrath I'd get Cacok back in there and not concern myself with fouls. We are down to nut-cutting time.

If we can defend the 3 like this, we can beat anyone in the CAA

Cylla takes a lot of shots. When he is hitting, we are a great offensive team, when he doesn't we struggle.

Its unfortunate that NE is who is next. I'd rather have Hofstra or CoC

Well, if you are going anywhere, you have to beat everyone sooner or later. So may as well face Northeastern tomorrow....

Cylla went to the hole more tonight and overall the defense wasn't bad. Good team win!

I'm afraid to compliment our defense, but we managed to cut down their three point attempts quite a bit. Hoping it was a coaching strategy change and not just a one off game like Hofstra. If we've figured out how to shut down the three ball, we could possibly make a run.

Doubt it was a coaching strategy.

RE: Elon game thread
Are you kidding? It absolutely was the strategy going in and the coach just said it. What? The players got together and told each other...hey man, we ought to guard them out there.

Onto NE then it will be either C of C or Drexel if the Hawks keep playing well. I think that I heard Harper is out so it will be C of C.

They got together and said hey we ought to guard them out there? That is the funniest thing I’ve ever read on here. It took 30 games for that epiphany?

Anyways I didn’t get to watch but glad we pulled it out, and we did better with the three. We still did give up 86 to Elon, but that’s just who we are. Survive and advance. Like you all wish it wasn’t NU. We were 6 deep in scoring double figures we need that Again tomorrow!

They made a bunch of late 3 balls in the last 3 minutes to get up to 10 for the game. We figured we have to keep them below 11 made and we were right.

Good lord did you even watch the game? They interviewed McGrath at halftime and he specifically said they were trying to guard and limit the 3 ball because that is how they beat us in the first two games. As a result we gave more easy 2s, especially because Cacok was our only healthy big man with O’Connell playing limited minutes and Cacok was trying to avoid fouling.

Sorry Elmore is not on the team anymore. You seem to have loved him and Kalina is just not a viable
option, who you were also craving minutes for.

Exactly. Zero percent of the regular season matters. Great job getting the Elon monkey off our back and now time to do the same to NU!
