There is talent on that team and they'll have 10 days to prepare as well.
Plus any suspensions they suffer in the offseason will be lifted by game 3.
True, but then they start leaning on injuries as an excuse for sucking around then.

I'd agree with you if we still had our old coaching staff, but I think switching to a new offensive scheme and having an almost entirely new coaching staff is going to require a breaking-in period for us. I know the same is true for them, and I agree that their talent is much better than the 2-10 record from last year would indicate, but I still think playing them when we do is a net positive for us. Getting tuned up in 2 warm-up games and then having two weeks to prepare is the perfect scenario in my eyes. And remember that heels have Clemson the week after us, so we could catch them looking ahead.
I'm a fan of both teams but I'm really hoping App can pull it out before Mack goes and wins the coastal.

You’re a fan of a school that has continually held back programs at App and controlled the budget giving App fewer funds than other schools. That’s unfortunate.

You know UNC (the school) doesn't set the budget, right? The budget is set by the Board of Governors. The Board of Governors are appointed by the General Assembly. The GA is who you should be upset with. They have continually cut funding to the UNC system and stock the Board with some pretty questionable people...

I'm firmly aware of what governing body sets the budgets, but everyone knows the influence your "other" school has on the system and has exercised for decades.
Are you that naive?

I’m continuously amazed at the small minority of our fans that support Said other school after understanding the real and negative affect it has on the growth of our institution.
Anyone who is going to reply that their support is only for athletics, and has no bearing on State politics, please save yourself and others time, and refrain from doing so.
Instead your time would be better spent reading up on propaganda techniques, and the influence of athletics on politics.

It gives the ABCers a good reason to hate on Carolina. I just try to ignore and continue rooting for App and whomever else ... because who I may root for while watching TV has a serious impact on the state of college athletics ...

RE: 2019 Football Schedules
There are always going to be fans who support other in-state teams. Most folks grow up rooting for one of "those" teams unless they are fortunate enough to have parents who were App alums. I grew up rooting for Georgia since my father and most of my extended family went to Georgia. I still own a few Dawg shirts / caps but they mostly collect dust while I accumulate drawers full of App gear. I do pull out the Georgia stuff for their bowl games or if I go to a game there against someone other than App. Most of us have parents, siblings and friends who went to ACC schools though, so I don't see the need in automatically jumping anyone who dares to say they root for an ACC school also....even (gag) UNC.

Most Sun Belt schools have to deal with the "mega institutions" in their respective states.

Two differences: 1) that school has systematically held other NC universities down for years, 2) they defend and/or deflect when those actions are discussed.
I used to do a lot of things when I was younger, then I grew out of those habits.

Oh I’m not denying there’s some influence. I challenge you to find me a state where the flagship university has no influence over matters like these. What’s ridiculous to me is how you and others think university officials have some evil plot to destroy App or something. I guess as WillRob said, believing that is a way to rationalize your hate for UNC. Haters gotta hate I suppose.
Also funny how you have it out for a school who may have some influence, yet you just ignore the point that the people actually making these decisions are pawns of the GA.

Eggzactly. As you said I grew up a UNC fan, but I’m also finishing up graduate school at UNC. Yet I’m for some reason forbidden to pull for the heels as my other team because I went to App for undergrad? The little-brother syndrome is rampant in our fan base and it’s embarrassing.

Have I defended the people making decisions? Where? Plot to "destroy", you have mastered hyperbole, congrats, do you have your jump to conclusions mat handy? Accusations of rationalization from the non-UNC grad side of this subject is hypocritical as best.
Best of luck on your post-graduate degree, probably should have led with that in hindsight. Hopefully you'll continue to put App first like most undergrad graduate do.

I don't think anyone is suggesting theres "an evil plot to destroy App". However, there is a vested interest by the powers that be to maintain the status quo.
There are finite resources allocated to higher ed, so every dollar spent on UNC is a dollar App can't have.
Everyones time and money are their own remit, but I will spend both on App only (as we need it) and would advocate that all other App supporters do the same.

Oh I’m with you there. But it’s just reality that with such finite resources the system’s flagship university is going to be somewhat of a priority. My main point is that the primary culprit here is the lack of funding and support for higher ed from the GA. Whether or not people cheer for UNC in athletics isn’t going to change that, but pressuring those actually in charge might.
