Correct assessment. Where was the ball movement tonight?

I really feel good about next year. I'm sure we'll be better once Cacok is gone.

That’s not the issue. It’s the lack of ball and player movement.

And, defending the 3 hurt us. That was a big thing today.

That's ALWAYS the issue Bill. That's the point. It's ALWAYS the issue and this staff just can't figure out any kind of solution.
One good win doesn't make up for so many terrible losses. In fact, it sheds light on what this team really is capable of, but yet the staff can't seem to get it out of them 85% of the time.
This team HAS the talent to be top 6 in the CAA, that's a fact. It doesn't currently have a staff that's capable of getting the most out of them unfortunately.

It's ALWAYS the issue...so disheartening. The only way you can lose to Elon is by not defending the 3pt line and not defending the only 2 players that can score. 17 threes and and Santa Ana/Siebring 51 points combined. And no adjustment again.

I sure to hell hope he didn't say that last night. I could have knocked down 75% of those, they had all day long to shoot!

I get the frustration but have any of you ever been in a position where you’re speaking to media? What exactly do you want him to say? “We suck. I can’t coach. We don’t defend well. Blah blah blah.”

Yeah, we have our struggles but he’s taking the high road with the media and instead of going after himself, his staff or his players he’s publicly giving credit to the other team. That’s what all coaches do. To think he’s gonna go out there and do anything else continually is absurd, especially immediately post game. Listen in to “Monday’s with McGrath” and you get a more in depth look at how he felt about games. Speaking to the media right after a game isn’t when you do that. You do the classy thing and congratulate the opponent.

It may be laughable to us because we know our team and know our defense, but honestly I take no issue with coach saying, “they hit some tough shots.”

Something else, anything else. We didn’t rotate well tonight, they found the open man. Both would be true, his usual excuse was a flat out lie in that situation

I'd say 7 should be about right. Hawks did a good job yesterday against the 3.

RE: @ Elon (Thursday, 7 PM)
It's funny but their stats and our stats are similar. They shoot the 3 at about 35% and so does UNCW. And, their FG% is similar too. Regardless, they've been a bad match up this year. Santa Ana and Seibring are 2 tough seniors that have been carrying them lately. They dominated Towson on Saturday which really surprised everyone and they are rolling a bit lately. Wonder what the line will be? Elon-3 perhaps??

If the Hawks to keep them at 7 or less makes, the Hawks have a shot. It would be great to get that first game as the Hawks have seemingly performed at or better than expectations traditionally in the CAA tourney. Hawks owe them one that's for sure. The problem has been the last 5 minutes of games for this young team. They've proven that they can play with any CAA team until that point. They may have to look for some 3 balls at crunch time this go around and not force the ball inside or if it does get there, get an inside out look to a shooter when they double Cacok or have cutters. I noticed that the Hawks shot way more 3's in the last game and that may be the best thing for this team although they were cold Saturday. We do have good marksmen and it's about points per possession right about now. What has been done lately isn't going to cut it even with better defense.

You and me both they had 11 or 12 in the first half against us!
Bill- you can quote the season stats all day long but it’s what they did against us that matters they torched us both times also, what we did against COC doesn’t really matter they don’t typically shoot it well from out there

Elon took 36 three point shots in the first game and 38 in the second. No way on earth we limit them to 7 made three point shots. If we could hold them to making 10 it would me a major accomplishment.

If they shoot that many, 10 or less could work.

Elon is a high volume three point shooting team which just happens to be our greatest weakness. Because of this, they are one of our worst matchups. They are going to put up 30+ shots from three. If we keep them at 10 made, it means they would shoot under 30% for the game. So, I will be thrilled if they only make 10. And if they only make 10, we probably win the game.
