Where should the Big Sky Tournament be played?
Am I the only one who thinks the Big Sky should move to Las Vegas? There would be the possibility (PAC-12 Women's is at MGM Grand & Mandalay for 2 years) in the future of the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Mandalay Bay Events Center, Cox Pavilion, or even the South Point Arena as well.

Talked with Weber AD and his wife at Final 4 last year. They were really excited about the move to Boise.

RE: Where should the Big Sky Tournament be played?
I voted Reno because I went the first year it was there and had a blast. Also because it's the closest to Sac State.

I recall reading articles on the BSCT location and LV was looked into, but there was no venue at the time. Personally if I'm going to LV to watch hoops, it ain't going to be for the BSC.

Having said that, Boise is the central most neutral location to the BSC members. A handful of universities/fan bases are within driving distance so the hope is more folks will show up. Logistically speaking, Boise makes sense. I have never been to Boise so not sure what there is to do there in mid-March, but I don't plan on going there to see the BSCT anytime soon.

I liked the idea of Reno as a follower of Weber State/Southern Utah but attendance was disappointing. Boise does make sense however I'm not sure it has tourist alure like Las Vegas or even Reno. Hell I'm surprised the Vivint Smart Home Arena or Maverik Center in Salt Lake hasn't hosted yet. Also even Spokane.

I voted Las Vegas, playing a tourney at Cox Pavilion/MGM Grand Garden Arena/Mandalay Bay Events Center would be best options.

RE: Where should the Big Sky Tournament be played?
The best option would be rotating between two sites .
Spokane is best for UI, PSU, UM, MSU and EWU not terrible for ISU and WSU.

Odd number years have it in Salt Lake city good for NAU, SUU, WSU and UNC. Vegas could work for Southern half of conference as well.

Every other year gives fans different things to look forward to keeps it from getting stale. While allowing for making plans ahead of time. The old system top seed host did not allow for making plans ahead of time.

The Big Sky is just too spread out .
Football should be two football only divisions/conferences North South.
Really the WAC , Big Sky and Summit should reorganize for better travel.
The big Sky has a lot of potential or its members do.
NAU, PSU, Sac ST are all big schools in decent size areas but seem to lack rivals to build their programs.

I don't know much about NAU on paper they look great good academics big school. Kinda got an area to themselves which is helpful for below P5 schools. On paper it looks like rivalries with Dixie St, SUU, GCU, NMSU and maybe UNC would be ideal.
Sac ST seems like they would benefit from Big West UC-Davis is their rival.
PSU might benefit from starting a rivalry with Seattle and Denver.
The core of the Big Sky UI, ISU, UM, MSU,WSU , EWU, and PSU to a lesser extent have advantages over the outliers.
Your playing for one NCAA tourney bid and stream all the games for free so tight geography is what matters.
Denver and Seattle in BSC.
NAU and SUU to the WAC
Sac St to the Big West

Where should the Big Sky Tournament be played?
Boise is centrally located and most schools fans do not have a terrible drive

When PSU has no place except a high for football, and a 1k arena, they are not going to grow competitively, SAC has the same problem with their home court. SC does have decent football stadium. BTW, UC Davis is in the BSC for football.

PSU has anew 3600 seat arena and might be better off dropping football.
They are having a harder time renting the soccer stadium.
Sac St could be bigger rivals with nearby UC-davis not just football but conference basketball rivals.

Boise or Spokane would be the most central for the vast majority of schools

RE: Where should the Big Sky Tournament be played?
I was looking at the MAC website. The conference tournament is being played in Cleveland but is being sponsored by ... Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. https://getsomemaction.com/tournaments/?id=105

Should be some interesting announcements during the tournament: "MAC fans, can't wait to get the heck out of "The Mistake by the Lake"? Show your ticket stub and get 50% off your 1st night's stay in beautiful Myrtle Beach." The Cleveland tourism bureau can't be thrilled. They get fans to Cleveland and all week they hear how awesome Myrtle Beach is.

So, you could have the Big Sky Tournament in Boise sponsored by ... Las Vegas ...or SLC... or Orlando ...

Myrtle Beach has been the sponsor for 3 years now. Myrtle Beach is a popular vacation spot for Ohioans and people don't typically vacation where they live. It makes a lot of sense tbh.

RE: Where should the Big Sky Tournament be played?
I never noticed that before about the MAC tournament. Out here in the hinterlands, if Des Moines or Omaha gets a big NCAA event they use it to promote their own town. I think the local Chamber of Commerce would lose their minds if during the event they were promoting Dallas, Orlando, or some other town. It's one of the main reasons Omaha works to get these NCAA events- it's some of the best publicity the town can get. Of course, Omaha ain't Cleveland.

I liked the tournament in Reno. As somebody who follows Southern Utah & Weber State, I have no interest in going to Boise but would have interest in Reno or Las Vegas.

Spokane was looked at, but the women's tournament was going to have the early rounds at EWU (Cheney which is about 17 miles away) which kind of blows away the logistical point of having all the games in one location.

You're one of the few Weebs fans that liked the Reno location. Nothing but bitching an moaning from that fanbase about the move to Reno.

There's nothing wrong with Reno. Heck, the Big West Tournament was held there from 1996-2000. It's a nice neutral location.

What's there really to offer in Boise, Spokane? I just don't have a lot of ambition for those cities I guess.

Reno & Las Vegas both have gambling options and other amenities with hotels in close proximity.

So we got:

Las Vegas (MGM Grand Garden Arena, Mandalay Bay Events Center, Thomas & Mack Center/Cox Pavilion - week early, South Point Arena as options)
Reno (Reno Events Center)
Salt Lake City (Vivint Smart Home Arena, Maverik Center)
Boise (CenturyLink Arena)
Spokane (Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena)

Other Options (unlikely, but close to schools):

Denver (Pepsi Center, 1stBank Center, Budweiser Events Center, Denver Coliseum)
Sacramento (Golden 1 Center)
Portland (Moda Center, Veterans Memorial Coliseum)
Billings (Rimrock Auto Arena)
Phoenix (Talking Stick Resort Arena, Gila River Arena, Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum)

Disney World in Orlando. A great excuse for people in the Northwest to go to Florida in late Winter.
