Signing Day announcements?
No signing reports so far? USA is reportedly racking up. Reports TC.

RE: Signing Day announcements?
Troy signed 5 more players.

The big get today was CB Reddy Steward, who was a 4-star on 247Sports before he committed to Troy about two weeks ago... he was then downgraded to a high-level 3-star (go figure).... he is the highest-rated player in the class... had offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, TCU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Memphis ... according to al.com, Miss State and South Carolina went after him hard over the last two weeks to flip him.

The other big get was WR Kaylon Geiger, who was was leader in all of JUCO for receptions (70), and #2 in reception yards (954 yards). This is #13 best recruiting class among all G5 schools.

Add to USA's 2019 signing class:

Diego Guajarado, P/K, 6-0, 190, Daphne, Al/Daphne HS. This guy can kick 'em into the next county.

Coastal Carolina added 8 more, 1 scholly/7 PWO. We had 4 schollies available per coaches, missed some late guys, kept 3 for next cycle. One guy we added is coming out of 3 years in minor league baseball. Went MLB draft out of HS.

https://goccusports.com/news/2018/12/18/...ntral.aspx

Interesting discussion for the G5... We had 4 guys declare for the transfer portal after early signing day. We were guessing at if the staff wrote off any return, for guys that end up not finding better opportunities. Think we learned today they’re keeping their spots open. Chadwell still said we only had 4 spots, and the 4 who declared were after early signing day, so we “in theory” now had 8.

Anyone else hear anything if y’all had guys declare for transfer portal? Been wondering how coaches would handle it... use threat of writing off a return to try and deter kids, or leave the door open for return (and need to save room for them accordingly)?

We all stand to lose some top kids, who think they can move up. Imo, it’s beneficial to even advertise your willingness to work with kids... maybe get some better players you can sell on early PT and chance to transfer up (as opposed to fighting their way on a P5 depth chart from day 1).

Curious if anyone has heard their coaches speak on it.

I’m pretty sure once the USA players went into the transfer portal that is the end of their USA career. If they don’t find an opportunity elsewhere then that’s on them and USA has moved on; their spot is not open. Coach Steve Campbell is big on wanting people at USA that wants to be at USA.

We singed like 12 guys. 5 of them count toward this class. A few others will blue shirt and enroll in August. There’s cautious optimism with this group. Biggest question mark remains QB where we have only 2 scholarship players and maybe like 12 collegiate pass attempts between them

RE: Signing Day announcements?
We signed 5 yesterday. 4 for this cycle and 1 that's a supposed blueshirt that will enroll in August.

Only signed 14 total for this cycle including ENSD and we are supposedly up to 83 scholarships, leaving a couple open in case we need to find a guy or two this spring/summer.

Biggest signing of yesterday for us probably Micah Hilts. TE/H-Back player they're looking to be a one on one mismatch for LBs/Safeties.

Mostly due to quantity (only 14 players) a really underwhelming class for TXST when you look at the rankings. Numbers are starting to work themselves out though. We played between 10 and 30 scholarships short all 3 years under Withers and should be close to full finally in 2019.

Unless we bring in a grad transfer, Logan Bonner, who was the backup last season, is almost certainly to get the job. The only other options are a True Freshman who just got on campus, and a Junior Walk on that we just gave a scholarship to because we were well short of 85.

I do believe with that in mind, there is a decent chance we'll bring in a Grad Transfer like we did the year after Aplin left in 2013. I just don't see Anderson being very comfortable with the idea that we have 2 QB's on campus with a combined like 20 Collegiate pass attempts.

Yes. Logan Bonner. Very quick release. Not much meaningful game experience, inexplicably. But with the skill weapons surrounding him, including, I highly suspect, two RBs in this class just signed . . . it will be difficult for him to screw things up.

EDIT: The one RB from LR with 4.4 speed is a blue shirt that counts in 2020 class.

Yep! It'll be as strong as the newly completed Covered Practice Facility. 05-stirthepot The Senior Bowl and NFL can attest to the strength and advantages of a Covered Practice Facility for practice time during a heavy rainstorm. 04-chairshot
