That's sweet. Really is. Excited for him and maybe even KSU for a little publicity. But he still isn't going to Canton.

Did anyone else see the shots OU’s beat reporter was taking at Edelman/KSU tonight? Might just have to mosey on over to the media table when the kittens come to town.

It’s interesting how testing positive for PED’s is treated so differently between baseball and football. If Edelman played baseball he would have been unable to participate in the playoffs and would have no chance for HOF. I know he claims to have passed numerous tests and doesn’t know what happened on the one positive test but let’s face it they all say that. Whether you agree with baseball or football it is treated differently. We won’t even talk about basketball which doesn’t even know what a PED is!!

But, but, but, baseball is a sacred american tradition.

Whatever.

I want to see Manny Rameriz in the Hall of Fame. Greatest mind baseball has ever produced.

RE: Julian Edelman
Ironically Ohio.com carried an article today criticizing Edelman and the NFL for giving the super bowl MVP award to a player with a PED violation. The article was more about the difference between how they treated Edelman vs. Koepernick then a straight criticism of Edelman.

That's silly. What Edelman did prior to the Super Bowl should have NO bearing on whether or not he was the most valuable player in that game!

I think his point was baseball would not have let him play in the playoffs (at the insistence of the players union). However he mainly wanted to defend Kopernick inferring Edelman committed something worse and was penalized less.

Kaepernick opted out of a contract and turned down other offers. To then sue for not having a contract is absurd.

RE: Julian Edelman
I've seen some article crapping on Edelman for the PED test. If he played for any other team no one would be saying that stuff right now. But reporters that have a bias against the Pats are jumping for the chance to call them cheaters again. It's important to remember the circumstances... not all positive PED tests are the same level of cheating. Comparing his positive test to baseball is absolutely absurd. Baseball's policies exist because of the steroid era where perfectly healthy guys were juicing all season to hit more home runs. That's not nearly the same thing as someone trying to rehab from a torn ACL during the off season.

Let's look at what he gained from using whatever he used. Did he gain a competitive advantage? Is he a better player today than he was before his injury? No, his per game numbers were right on par with ever season since he's become a starter.

Did taking something help him return from his injury quicker? Maybe it would've if he wasn't caught, but by the time his suspension was over his first game was over 13 months after he tore his ACL. So it's likely that the PEDs didn't help him get back onto the field quicker. I think it's pretty fair to say that if he wasn't able to get back to 100% after 13 months of rehabbing, and there was some banned drug out there that would get him healthy, it'd be stupid to not take it, take the suspension, then resume your career. Hating on someone for doing that would be the equivalent of saying you should play by the rules and let an injury linger and possibly ruin your career.

So the argument is he cheated... but what did he gain from it? He didn't gain a competitive advantage. At most it enabled him to get past his injury and get back to a level playing field.

It's really a shame that the ACL injury happened. It cost him all the stats from one season in the prime of his career. It cost him 3 more playoff games to accumulate stats. With those three games he would already be the all-purpose yards leader, could catch Rice in receptions as early as next year, and could have a legit chance at catching him in receiving yards. It cost him another chance at a ring. He's a huge part of that offense so it's reasonable to believe he could've made a difference in that game. Plus, he wouldn't have this negative cloud over him for the PED test. That one injury could ultimately be what keeps him out of the HOF.

Most baseball players took PEDs to extend the prime of their career not to create a career. In my mind Bonds, Clemens, etc are Hall of Famers even if you eliminate their stats after they were 32. Some of their career records would be taken away but not enough to take away their HOF credentials (I often wonder what juice Babe Ruth was on, Tour de France riders took cocaine in the early 1900’s and the Greek city states illegally recruited for the Olympics, some things never change).

Friday night at 9:00 EDT on Showtime: "100% Julian Edelman"

He's been out promoting it on the talk shows--on Dan Patrick yesterday and Colbert last night. Supposed to be an honest look at his career, ups and down included. Of course, it will be available to stream there afterwards and will be replayed a lot like they do with their documentaries.

I'm psyched for it.

Julian Edelman arrested for alleged vandalism in Beverly Hills

Obviously doesn't know what to do with himself when he is not in the Super Bowl.

He jumped on a car. In the scheme of things, pretty low on a list of potential transgressions pro athletes have.

I wish I could jump on a car.
