RE: If CUSA bonus play were to start tomorrow
Seems like the commissioner is just trying to find ways to extend her paycheck.

Oh well, in 10 years we will be wearing stickers on the back of our helmets recognizing her and having UAB / Auburn basketball games in her honor if she has enough money to pay off CUSA.

I'm ok with it. This year it won't help one iota but could have possibly helped in year's past. Bottom line is we need out of this league.

Adds a lot more intensity to the regular season, too...

It hasn’t added any intensity that wouldn’t already be there with this many teams competing for the top spot

Look at MTSU from last year for an example ( I think)

Pretty much had around a top 30 rpi and got left out.

Doesn't matter which way you slice it, how you mix it up, what "games" you play at the end of the conference season, only 1 team will make the tournament. That team being the team that wins the conference championship.

It’s not about gaming the system, that’s where this is being looked at incorrectly. It’s about protecting that too 50 team we get. Instead of playing land mines in their last four games, they get the best of the rest. Granted this year that isn’t much, but it has been better in the past.

Any conference game is a landline. This system doesn’t protect those teams. It puts them in bigger danger of losing to mediocre teams

Please explain how there is a bigger danger.

Yea I didn’t quite get that either.

I like the fact that if you are in the top pod you get to play the better teams and are not saddled in playing a team that you win by 20 and drop. Yea you could lose as well but if you lose before the tourney you are most likely out any way. I think it’s a bunch of complaining just to be complaining.

The pod play is somewhat offset by the crappy pod members playing each other and further dropping their ranking and in turn the top pod rankings.

Well according to KenPom (ha!):

Murray St. (62)
Vandy (91)
WKU (47)
ODU (64)
WKU (47)

Their worst losses were to Marshall (105) twice and USM (206).

Their KenPom ranking was 43 before losing to Southern Miss in the C-USA Tourney. That loss dropped them to 52.

I like the pod play. Interesting to have a season within a season. Gives teams something to play for other than the tourney at the end.

I'm sure I'll jinx it and they'll lose today, but this is awesome. Tied for tops in conference with wins over the others. I was pretty down on this team after the Charleston & Memphis games, but they've clearly improved. I hope they're able to close it out and be 10-4 in conference going into pod play.

I think it would make more sense to simply alternate the location for the rematch games. For example, it wouldn’t make sense for us to travel to UNT again or have UTSA come to Bartow again. Play the rematch in San Antonio so I can go be butthurt in person. 03-lmfao

Well, I guess we can now imagine the whining when UAB doesn't make the top 5.
