And the only home team to lose was Ole Miss. That's one thing that just keeps me from getting too riled up about basketball. Football has much less of a home field advantage than home court does in hoops. IMO this would be a better event as a tournament played at a neutral site to kick off basketball season, than as a one weekend affair after conference play has begun.

The SEC teams for the next 2 years will reset after the season.

SEC basketball continues to improve.

Please get in line behind me when it comes to SEC officials for basketball. Our football officials and those of the Big 10 are pretty solid. PAC and ACC football officials are horrid. The Big 12 is a mixed bag.

The SEC basketball officials are lousy. Auburn got stuck with the same crew on back to back weekends in losing at South Carolina and then at Miss State. Traveling wasn't called even when 3 to 4 steps were taken. Touch foul whistles under the basket on every shot, and brutal muggings on the open floor that were never called. Add to it a technical foul on one of our guys who slammed the ball down on a breakaway when he turned and glared at the defender who swiped him upside the head when he was scoring with no plus 1 foul called and I'd say we've had a belly full of it as well.

A few years ago most of the SEC officials were pretty solid in hoops, but they had all been calling games for 15 to 20 years. Way too many of them retired all at once and what we have now is pretty pathetic.

So no disagreements here, just a shake of my head. Personally I think the SEC should have 4 officials on the floor so these guys weren't calling fouls trailing a play 30 to 40 feet away. We can afford it and clearly the style of play outpaces 3 guys.
