For anyone who was at the game...Why were our students flicking off the Elon bench? The video stream zoomed in on some students clearly yelling "F You" with their middle fingers up.

I'm all for being rowdy and cleverly chanting at the other team (I heard a "Grayson Allen" chant at Santa Ana which was great) but yelling F You and flicking off the other team is just trashy.

Not sure about today, but I was at Elon game last year and Santa Ana pulled some bush league crap in that game

Elon was what we thought they were, they were what we thought they were. And that's why we took the darn court. If you want to crown them, then crown their butts, but the Phoenix were what we we thought they were, and we let them off the hook.

I saw that. Absolutely uncalled for. We should have removed them from the gym.

I used to think we scored a lot because we are a high powered offense. I was wrong. We score a lot because other teams score so easily we get a lot of posessions. It is inconceivable to me that only the worst offensive teams can't score 85 points on us any given night.

ELON has the second worst offense in the CAA, averaging 68.6 ppg in conference. They just hung 89 on us. They have broken 70 points in only 8 of their 15 games. They have broken 80 points against Milligan, Central Penn, Canisius and now UNCW.

I know, it's the players "effort", or they just "got lucky", or the shots they hit were all defended well, they just hit "tough shots". Unless we recruited a roster of the worst defenders in D1 basketball, maybe there's another problem.....

I can't even listen to the coaches speak after games anymore. Same old same old.

We have possibly one of the greatest players in the history of UNCW and the CAA, and we can't manage to beat anyone but the worst teams on our schedule.

HC does not breed confidence in players or fan base. No change all season in defense. Not at least in the team's achilles heal of 3pt defense. Transfer line starting at the door. Guaranteed.

I don't know that we have any great talents to worry about being heavily recruited to transfer, but we do have ONE......

I'm willing to give the team and coaches time and not make everything a 1 game referendum. If UNCW hits 3 more 3 balls they still win the game, but shot 26% from 3. They need to get better at defending the 3, but Elon was only 36% themselves which isn't killing it. One guy killing the Hawks again was frustrating. It took a career day, but he did it. Hawks have to continue to grow as a team on both ends.

I will add that if the fans were doing that, they should have been either sternly warned to stop that or asked to leave. We've all been mad a time or 2 in the past but that's over the top. Hawks need to stay classy.

Yeah Bill, that's a joke right? Losing at home to Elon is more than 1 bad game. This team really can't put good games together. The garbage last 5 minutes the other night trickled into today. You know how you beat a cold shooting night? You play good D!

I can't really disagree. Good defense is a great recipe for winning. My hope is that they finally get there.

Everybody on here continues to talk about how bad our players are defensively. Maybe what we are seeing is how the coaches are telling them how to defend. Maybe, just maybe, the issue is with the coaching and not the players themselves.
