Absolutely! We just beat the 2 teams ahead of us for first!

It’s now:

Towson 5-1
JMU 5-1
Hawks 4-1

It really was. It was awesome to be in Trask and experience a really solid Women's Bball environment. These ladies are putting it all out there and playing great ball.

They've completely bought into Coach Barefoot's system. That seems very apparent. We may not fully have an "identity" just yet but that's OK. Just keep playing hard, fundamental ball. Oh, and having either Shrita, GiGi or Lacey (or all 3?) go off doesn't hurt, lol.

Please stop with all of the passive aggressive shots at the men's program. We can compliment the Lady Hawks without being juvenile. For all the criticisms we have of other fan bases, some Seahawk fans are pretty difficult to stomach as well.

I tuned in to watch the second half. It was the first time I've watched any women's bball outside of the Final Four in a long while. Parker had a great fourth qtr.

LOL it is what it is. It's positive to see coach Barefoot getting the program going the right direction. I'm not sure why someone wanting to win is "difficult to stomach!"

Everyone on here wants all of the programs at UNCW to be successful. When you can't enjoy the success of another program without throwing shots at another team/coach, you represent the worst of what being a fanatic is all about.

if you say so! You are assuming i was taking a shot at C.B. It's very feasible that i could have been talking about our previous woman's coaches.

Let's not derail this thread please. Plenty of other threads to complain about the Men's program. The Women's team just came off their best pair of games since the Cynthia Cooper-Dyke era.

THAT was my point! I was simply implying that all it took was good coach to get us on track.

Fair enough. Again, really proud of the Lady Hawks.

Nation, we're tied for first in the loss column, with home wins over Towson and JMU. With those two huge home wins in our pocket, what does the next week or two look like? Is there parity in the league, or will the schedule get softer?

LOL i edited it 2 mins after i posted for a typo. Not after anyhone else commented, you can see that from the time stamps. Anyways, back on track. Good to see our "trash coach" getting W's
Real question as i don't follow it close enough, is it a legit chance that they could win the league?

Absolutely. JMU and Towson have relatively young coaches. Sean O'Regan was promoted within at JMU in 2016. Towson's coach is in her 2nd season. JMU is a lot closer to a "powerhouse" type program, and had legit at-large aspirations until the loss to us. But that doesn't mean they're worlds better than us, which Friday night showed.

This league is 1-bid this year, so we'll have to claw for a high seed. But I see no reason why we can't crash the party.

Nation, we're tied for first in the loss column, with home wins over Towson and JMU. With those two huge home wins in our pocket, what does the next week or two look like? Is there parity in the league, or will the schedule get softer?

The conference is pretty strong from top to bottom. Currently the # 10 ranked league, and probably will be one of the highest-ranked leagues not to get multiple bids. So that'll make it tough.

Northeastern is the team below us to watch our for. They're 3-3, but # 53 in the NET rankings, with 3 wins against the Top 100 in non-conference. They lost @ Towson and JMU, though they also lost a close game at home to Drexel they probably should have won. I'd be very surprised if they don't end up in the top 4.

We're on the road this week, to face Delaware (1-4) and Drexel (3-2). We can't afford a let-down game against Delaware. I don't expect to beat Drexel up there. They're tough.

We then face the aforementioned Northeastern and Hofstra (0-6) at home. So we need to go 2-2 the next 2 weeks to put ourselves at 6-3 at the halfway mark. Feb 15/17 is when we make our huge road swing to Towson and JMU back to back. JMU plays their next 3 at home, including a massive game against Towson on Feb 3.

Towson gets Elon (2-3) and the Tribe (3-2) at home leading up to the JMU game. So I'd say both Towson and JMU will be 7-1 heading into the H2H with each other.

Current Standings:

1. JMU (5-1)
Towson (5-1)
3. UNCW (4-1)
4. Drexel (3-2)
W&M (3-2)
6. Northeastern (3-3)
7. Elon (2-3)
8. Delaware (1-4)
Charleston (1-4)
10. Hofstra (0-6)

If I had to guess the final regular season standings, I'd go with this:

1. JMU
2. UNCW
3. Towson
4. Northeastern
5. Drexel
6. W&M
7. Elon
8. Delaware
9. Charleston
10. Hofstra

Men's Basketball is the trial sport for the NET. There is no NET for Women's Basketball. It might start next season, but this season the Women use the RPI. Out of 351 teams, CAA teams have RPIs of 53, 58, 103, 112, 122, 155, 190, 193, 260, and 293.
