That’s a big IF, but certainly possible. Assuming these guys signqed 1 year deals, can ODU pony up the money to keep the staff together?

IF ODU and our Fan base wants football to be successful we will have to pony up and make this happen. We are reaching a put up or shut up moment.

You don’t build a $67.5M stadium and continue to try to get by on the cheap with your coaching staff. That would not sit well at all with big-time donors, ODAF members, or fans of ODU Football in general.

Do you think they have a bunch of money sitting around and are choosing not to spend?

For once I actually agree with you.

If people want these level coaches to stay (assuming they do well), people are going to have reach into their pockets to help pay those salaries

I didn't see this posted, but Harry had a nice article about coach Stinespring yesterday.

Here's one from David Teel from the day before. As much as they are pushing this narrative, it would not surprise me to see BS elevated to RC here shortly. Use it or lose it!

DeAngelo Hall is looking for a coaching job. He was offered the DB job at Maryland but was holding out for a job with the Redskins. Possibly on Sabans radar.

I don't think anyone on this board thinks that ODU/ODAF is squirreling money away somewhere and not spending it. Fans/donors want big-time FBS football. However, that does not come cheap. That means ticket price increases, seat fees, and donors digging a little deeper into their pockets every year. Hopefully, ODU's investment in the new coaching hires pays off with winning seasons, bowl bids, and good recruiting. That in turn will hopefully draw more people to the games and more people donating to ODAF.

As has been previously discussed on this board, ODU has a lot of teams that need funding compared to other CUSA schools. That just makes every team's slice of the pie smaller. I would love to see a balance sheet on what it cost ODU bottom line to run these teams versus how much money they bring to the university. How much would it hurt to cut one or two teams while still keeping the balance of male/female scholarship opportunities?
