Pretty much the entire corporate board of Waffle House is GT alums. But Collins has a meme'ed up history of eating constantly at Waffle House with recruits and staff and just solo real early when recruiting. Looks like Waffle House is all in behind the new administration. This is what happens when you can get an AD with a clue who makes good hires to unite the fan base.

I want to see some more high end LOIs before I get too optimistic ... but everything so far has been spot on.

I feel like there are even more options; could someone list them ALL, please?

GT has one of the largest athletic endowments in college athletics. It is located in perhaps the best location for college football. It has a national title and great history.
Beyond degrees that the average football player can reasonable be involved with (and how hard is it to add a social science degree if it doesn't exist already?), GT has a lot going for it to succeed in college football.

The ACC has a few programs like this that are loaded with potential to be great. We need more to get up there with Clemson (that includes FSU who is lagging).

That's a great question, Nole!

"how hard is it to add a social science degree"?

Is there something in the Georgia college system preventing this?

GT has four national titles in football.

And regarding adding social science ... nearly impossible. The GABOR is controlled by UGAg. Despite already having comprehensive engineering offerings from Georgia Tech (world class) and Georgia Southern (accessible to all Georgians) .... the GABOR voted to give UGAg a new engineering school despite the explicit part of the mission that says GABOR should avoid unnecessary degree duplication within the system. Wanna guess what happens if GT asks for a new liberal arts program?

At GT the problem has been at the very tip top since Homer Rice left. The President. The AD. GT seems to have the AD now. GT seems to have the football coaching staff now. The fan base is united. And joy of joys Bud Peterson is leaving as President after having his *** handed to him in multiple ethics scandals. Now to see if GT can find a President that views the athletics mission as just as important as the academic one. A President that will aggressively grow enrollment through online programs (already very successful) and new satellite campuses to go with GT-Savannah, GT-Lorraine (France), and GT-Shanghai (China). The sky is the limit if the President vacancy is filled with the same skill the AD vacancy was.

Quote:Waffle House ‘thrilled’ with publicity from Geoff Collins

Will Mizell, a Georgia Tech graduate and a season-ticket holder for football and men’s basketball holder for years, was excited for the hire of coach Geoff Collins. His energetic personality, a staff chockful of Tech grads, his past history at Tech and his priority on branding the Yellow Jackets were among many reasons.

“And the fact that he likes Waffle House is just kind of icing on the cake,” said Mizell, a vice president for the Atlanta-based restaurant chain. “I had no idea.”Collins’ zeal for Waffle House and his eagerness to share it through his Twitter account has been received with understandable pleasure by Mizell and his cohorts, save perhaps the ones who are Georgia fans.“We’re thrilled to have him because I think what it is is, it’s authentic and it’s reaching out locally,” Mizell said. “’Hey, I eat at Waffle House. I’m just a regular guy.’ I think that is helping him connect with folks.”

...

Waffle House has done its part to grow the relationship. He was given a gift card, a personalized ID badge and, perhaps most significantly, a ride on its corporate plane. Last week, Collins tweeted out a photo of him, wide receivers coach Kerry Dixon and two other gentlemen in front of a private propeller plane thanking Waffle House for helping Tech “RECRUIT IN STYLE!!!!! ”Waffle House spokesman Pat Warner declined to comment on the flight, saying only that the company makes it plane available from time to time. Warner would acknowledge, though, that the company and Collins are working to make their alliance official.“We’re kind of in talks right now, kind of seeing what a partnership would look like,” Warner said.

Greg Schiano sez hi.

He was doing helicopter hops over a decade ago. It actually makes sense in areas like ATL and Jersey

With fully accredited state engineering programs in Athens, Kennesaw and Statesboro, the reason for precluded Tech from starting a Liberal Arts college no longer exist. That said, folks on the Hill do like the current arrangement.
