What, no Arkansas Tech? Are we suddenly not good enough for these D1 mega-lists?

Listing 73 schools that "could" join the WAC is like predicting who is going to win the Super Bowl by listing 32 teams.

Yet people still give him kudos if one school on his billions of lists moves up.

Also David told me to mention this, he left out South Central Louisiana State at #74.

Except it is not 73 names. I skipped schools that already joined and schools from the Big West, Big Sky and Summit. It would be around 60 schools that have been brought up not from me, but from other sources as well. I take them and combined them under one list as dark horses.

Well, I had Dixie State on my list to the WAC for several years now. Colorado Mesa and Lone Star schools as well.

Any schools with football from the 4 corner states to move up from D2 are from New Mexico (not as long New Mexico State is there) and Colorado. Schools with football in Arizona are in the NAIA right now with Arizona Christian and Ottawa Arizona. Westminster in Utah is the lone Utah school in D2. Head officials said that they may looked into the future to add football.

When did Westminster officials say that? No stadium, no location for a stadium. Closest stadium would be the UofU (no chance). Just moved up to D2 just a few years ago. I'm highly doubtful on this one.

Well, every D2 school in the country has been on David's COULD join the WAC list for over five years so no surprise when it does happen. Westminster (UT) has no interest in adding football in any foreseeable future. He's probably referencing a throw-away comment in an article in some random local paper.

They are listed as a defunct football in the past, but dropped it. Notable alum is Les Brown, tight end for Miami Dolphins. They do have soccer which the stadium may have been used for football.

We know they had football; they ended the program after the 1978 season.

Les Brown played basketball at Westminster in the NAIA; he was signed by the Dolphins in April 2012 then waived in August 2012. Yeah, he was a Dolphin for 5 months and never played a down in the NFL.

You really need to look at Westminster's Soccer/Lacrosse stadium. There is absolutely no place to put the needed additional facilities for football nor anywhere to put additional seating and press box. There is also a parking structure under the field (Biola has the same structure). The campus is so small, cramped, and locked in that they would need to tear down something to build something new.

Now answer the question from TardisCaptain; When did Westminster officials say that?

So, no link then. Here are 8 links from 2015 about them beginning the D2 transition and joining the RMAC. All the articles use a lot of words but the one word that is never used is 'football'.

Most importantly, from the school's official academic and athletic sites and from the RMAC site. Still, not one mention of football.

Wait, that field is built on TOP of a parking garage? That's almost as cool as the high school team that plays on the Arctic Ocean.

RE: Dixie State to join WAC
The WAC finally seems to be building a geographic core around UVU, Dixie St, GCU, and Cal Bapt. This core includes teams that don't pose huge flight risks. I hope they are able to continue to find members that will be long term. Not to go David St but these are the types of D2 schools that could help build that brand:

Azusa Pacific--travel partner for Cal Bapt
CWU/WWU--travel partner for Seattle
Some of the bigger Colorado schools--Metro St, CSU Peublo, Colorado Mesa, UC Colorado Springs

Phase out Chi St. UMKC, and UTRGV as opportunities arise for them. Let the 4 Corners States and Southern California be your foundation.

Avoid Texas--there's just too large a geographic bridge between NMSU and UTRGV.

West Texas A&M, Angelo State and UTPB are closer to the core of the WAC.

I might be willing to concede West Texas A&M but UTPB is a very young school.

I guess it depends on whether the existing membership thinks that FCS football is going to be the life force of the conference. Right now it's far easier to just recruit non-football schools and have everyone committing their resources to basketball.

If FCS is a must (which I don't think many schools believe since only the newest member would even have a team) your membership recruiting base shifts to APU, CWU, and CO and TX schools who have D2 FB programs.

If a school used to play football when dinosaurs were around and Sewanee was in the SEC, then it's fair game for David St. I'm pretty sure football is discussed a lot at Westminster College. I highly doubt they don't discuss the NFL or Big time college games there. Some of the male students probably played in high school too. So football is probably discussed there, like the alignment "guru" stated!
