The day may come when the Sugar Bowl becomes the Big 10's biggest year end bowl. If the Big 12 goes away then the ACC/SEC match up there is possible. But as the PAC fades the Big 10's interest may one day be to match up with the SEC in New Orleans. Their fans have loved that trip and it's less expensive than Pasadena.

The logical place for an ACC/SEC bowl is Atlanta.

Thats an interesting take since the BIG prides itself on tradition. Nothing says tradition like the PAC vs BIG in the Rose Bowl. Nothing would surprise me in college football anymore, though. Things would have to be really bad for the BIG to break with the Rose.

As a Midwesterner, I don't see it. Folks here love going to the Rose Bowl-- heck, they go out there just to watch the Parade even if there is no interest in the game. Its just something that people have been doing here for generations. No way would they want to switch up and go down to Atlanta or New Orleans.

If the PAC 12 continues to fade I think there is a greater likelihood the Rose Bowl would turn into B10 vs. SEC.

Southerners have not lost anything on the left coast that we need to find. It was nostalgic for Alabama to head there since they made some appearances there in the 20's. Outside of that most of us prefer games in the South. If the Big 10 wants a premier game, it will likely be in New Orleans.

After you go to the SEC or ACC championship games in Atlanta or Charlotte, then you go to the Orange Bowl and Cotton in Miami and Dallas, a trip to the Bay area is damn expensive. Moreover the Bay area is the most expensive place in the United States.

So that's Charlotte-Dallas-SF/SJ for Clemson fans and Atlanta-Miami-SF/SJ for Alabama fans. Neither of which can be said to have the most cosmopolitan fan base. Dallas is a far west as the football championship needs to be played and Atlanta is the furthest north.

Indianapolis and St. Louis (if renovated or rebuilt for a new team), would all provide a fine home to the title game. It isn't supposed to be a traditional bowl game after all.

* Just read it is going to be in Indy in a few years.

I originally listed Detroit as well 04-drinky, and thought about Minnesota. Not because I prefer those locations, but because I was trying to come up with places in the midwest where the finals could feasibly take place.

Minnesota got a stadium, airport and the mall, so I would put them in the rotation.

Minneapolis was the coldest air I've ever felt in my entire life. This coming from a guy who lives in Upstate NY. I hope Syracuse never ends up in a bowl there.

I would imagine the B1G would be thinking Rose and Sugar Bowls - not either or. Just like I could see the SEC thinking Sugar and Orange. Both leagues have enough quality at the top to support two major NY tie-ins in addition to a CFP entry (or two).
