They are last 4 byes. Means they are in by about 8 spots.
What happened to Wichita this year? Lots of Frosh or Soph? Rebuilding year?
9 newcomers. Only returning 11% of minutes played last year. Losing Shamet AND Reaves after the end of last year plus Lomax decommitting left us without a true PG. That was our #1, #2 and #3 option coming into the year.
Are these new comers any good? Is Wichita going to be a force in the next couple years?
I think the reason American added Wichita was because Wichita was a power in Basketball.
Lots of Freshman, so you never know. But they have shown flashes of good. I think we will be perfectly fine even as quick as next year and be right back in the discussion for the top.

I hope more than 3

Lunardi currently has 3 in with Temple in the next 4 out.

I think you have to have 1,000 posts before you can give rep points. Once you hit that, you can give a max of 2 points, then later on (I think at 5,000 or 10,000 posts) you can give 3 rep points.

RE: Is American basketball better than Pac 12?
so updated for games from yesterday
P12 103.08
AAC 105.58
2.50 gap now
this gap looks like it's going to continue to close. guessing a big part of it is SOS and with the over .100 point gap between the AAC and P12, that's going to just continue to help the AAC out.

RE: Is American basketball better than Pac 12?
so just in 1 conference game week-
from-
P12 104.33
AAC 110.08
to
P12 103.08
AAC 105.58
so from -5.75 to -2.50. This time next week, will the AAC be ahead of the Pac 12?

If not this week then the next, the climb will slow as everyone becomes connected and the amount of movement will become less.
The PAC has no teams in position for an at large (inside the top 50) the AAC has three and Temple with a non conference game left could be inside it as well. The top gap will start to make a big difference, Cal is now 200+ and Wazzou is creeping towards it.

It will continue to widen because the AAC has an overall better win-loss record at the opponent level, and in conference play the two teams in the AAC are inheriting the other teams better OOC record, wheres the PAC is inheriting a worse OOC record.
If there are any more OOC games to be played, then it could reverse that trend, or make it accelerate, depending on how we and the PAC do in any other non conference games that are remaining. Also, the specific teams we have played can move the needle a bit, so that if a piss poor team the pac played suddenly starts winning in their conference, they will get a bit of a bump, which will also bump all other teams in the PAC. But the "opponents opponent" record is a much smaller impact than the "opponents" record, so I expect it to continue to slowly widen.

Oregon just lost Bol Bol for the season. That will hurt them big time.
I wish we could have helped out the cause of pushing the PAC towards one-bid league status. Unfortunately we all struck out...
UC Santa Barbara lost at Washington by 4. 11-21 free throws
Cal State Fullerton lost in 2OT at ASU. Blew a 13 point lead at Washington.
UC Davis lost by 2 at Arizona.
Cal Poly lost at Cal by 1.
Any of those results work in our favor, the Pac would all but be guaranteed just 1 bid. They need a dose of humility and to be taken down a peg.

The American is a better Conference than the PAC 12. We just don't receive as large a Conference Welfare PayCheck as the PAC 12

Tulane being at >300 NET is killing our average.

The number and seeding of PAC 12 and AAC schools into the Tourney will be a good test of the validity of the NET and the credibility of the Selection Committee members. At this point, the PAC 12 is a one-bid league.

Have you seen the rankings of East Carolina and Tulane? It's like the conference is running a race while dragging two dead bodies.

While having ECU at 218 is far from ideal, the Pac has Washington State at 196 and Cal at 227. Tulane is really the one that is killing us (302).

Is American basketball better than Pac 12?
Every league has anchors dragging ratings down, San Jose does wonders for the MWC.
