There were perhaps a dozen students behind us had fun and made noise. Not much, but it's a start. Too bad the band wasn't there.

Something good is brewing with this team! The 2nd half today was one of the most complete halves I have ever seen from Huskie basketball. Unlike previous years there are so many options for scoring and play fast. Crowd got into the game, looking forward to getting the place rocking. New screen is awesome. Not sure if anyone else agrees, but the new screen not only has great graphics it also brightens up the whole area, including the floor. I have always felt the court felt dingy, not today

Students are back for the Buffalo game right? That game probably not winnable even at home, but if Huskies beat CMU and get a road win at Kent, no problem dropping Buffalo and @Akron. My personal target is for NIU to be 5-2 in conference headed into the 3-game home stand vs Ohio/Toledo/Ball State. Was that last year I am remembering just a horrible showing vs CMU in DeKalb. If I remember it was one of the ugliest games of the year. Hope they can turn that around this time.

We beat Buffalo at home last year! That was Monty’s signature win that triggered another year.

That's true but Buffalo is playing at another level from last year. It's possible but NIU would have to be near flawless and Buffalo would have to be off

If there's any place that it would happen, it would be at the Convo.

What would attendance by slim chance both NIU and Buffalo come in undefeated and Bulls have a top 12 to 15 rank ? I'm thinking like 2500. Its a weekday and currently I dont think there is a significant promotion. If it was a Saturday I think it could have pushed 4000

Buffalo could run the table until the first game of March Madness. They are that good. When was the last top 20 team to play in the Convo?

Agreed. My first time watching NIU basketball this year. Bigger crowd than I expected (thanks to DeKalb county special?)

The 2nd half NIU was so dominant that Akron's coach actually stopped screaming plays and directions.

I watched Germany's summer workout videos where he was running around the NIU floor, dodging garbage cans and hitting 3s and layups. Hard worked is paying off. He made some of their defenders look like standing garbage cans. Wow what a burst. Plus his 3 is NBA range. He didn't have that shot as a freshman for sure. If you haven't seen him play you need to before he is gone.

Loved the energy from the crowd. The board is so good I caught myself watching it instead of the court a couple times.

Question for those who see alot of huskie bball. Is this offense designed to drive to the basket or shoot 3s all day? Very few passes into the paint. When they did it was an immediate double team.

Seems this team is trying win with quickness and accurate shooting.

This might be the first time in Monty's tenure that he is playing to the strengths of his team instead of a designated system. The results are reassuring to this point. Huskies are very vulnerable to a team that can hit 3's though, very weak perimeter defense. I fear CMU is going to exploit this Tuesday.

It’s nice to see Monty has shortened his rotation rather than playing 10-11 guys no matter what.

A few lucky breaks against Green Bay, JMU and NKU (x2) and this team is 14-2!

MD the important ranking is NET, so forget Kenpom unless you (as I do) use it as a comparison. NET will determine who makes the big dance.

If you want to know NET has us at 119 and the Illness at 125.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care about the NET rankings. I Know they are used as the ground truth for the committee, but it is a bull s**t ranking system that is kept secret so it can be manipulated later. I don't trust that ranking any more than I trust that group of 12 corrupt individuals in a smoky hotel room deciding how they can work the system to get their favorite schools in the playoff. Ill take Kenpom as ground truth to evaluate teams

IT is pretty amazing how NIU only has 1 bad loss with James Madison. Green Bay probably can be considered a bad loss I guess.
