ku as in kansas? what you talking about?
He's referring to Greg Youncofski. Greg was a student-manager at KU several year back. He has been with us for a few years as a video coordinator and team ops guy. After LD was let go he has moved up. I've heard several people say he has a great basketball mind and will be a head coach in CBB someday soon.
Sounds like people's impression of Mick in the '90s
Funny you say that because Mick made the same comment to a group of us a while back.
I'm not a Mick basher but when I think of people hiring others with similar backgrounds, I immediately think Mike Brown and Dave Shula. I probably should think about others who have done this successfully but Brown/Shula is my first thought. Marvin was a good hire at the time so Brown deserves some credit...but Marvin was kept around too long which is entirely on Brown. Ok...I've now fallen into a rabbit hole. Back to Mick's next assistant.

Another idea. How about some coach with a specialty in recruiting a certain type of nationality? Example, I think St.Mary's has an assistant with tons of connections in Australia, and they do really well getting Aussie kids. When Frank Martin was here he started to get us involved with Latino/Hispanic players, but then brought that to K-State and now South Carolina. There just seems to be such a wider pool of players out there if you can leave the country to find some dudes, but you need to have a guy that ksnows what the hell he is doing.

I think something like that would be a good idea. They need someone to push the needle in recruiting, whether it's with foreign players or domestic players. They flat out do not have that on this staff.

Unfortunately this would fall into "outside the box" thinking which I am not accustomed to seeing from this staff.

They actually tried that this offseason--- Argentina point guard who had UC in his final two (he picked TCU).
With basketball becoming such a global sport, I think we'll start seeing more foreign players at UC and elsewhere. I read an article recently which indicated that within a few years we'll start seeing a number of players from India enter CBB as the sport has taken off there.
