Didn't know NIU was a I-AA football program. That term no longer is used. Then there is the good old "MAC Conference."

RE: Sutton Draft Prospects
It seems odd that you would declare for the draft unless you're at least getting a lot of buzz around being drafted.

Based on the downward trajectory and not having the talent around him next season, I think he made the right choice

I know you're negative nancy right now, but that is a truly baffling comment...plenty of talent on the D next year.

I am wondering if he made the right move by declaring early. There is a chance, whether people may not want to admit it or not , that he may be out of football in 2019.
If he really doesn't get drafted, then yikes, have to question the decision (although as we know, doesn't mean you can't go have a NFL career).
My guess is he was always going to be more of a 3rd day guy, and that's where he'll end up, 5th or 6th round. I looked at the bleacher report link and it only lists top 15 on each position, looking at LB's in last year's draft, that takes you to about the early 4th round (that varies by draft of course).

I’m sure he’s hearing different from his agent. I don’t put any stock into those things until after Senior Bowl games, combines which he’ll probably get invited to, pro days. These publications always show more love to the power conference players.

None of these early ranking mean squat. He can easily jump up draft boards with good combine, or pro day.

I’m not sure Sutton can improve his stock too much at the combine. I think he’s already looked at as a 4.55 type guy with quickness. So unless he does something amazing like run a 4.4, he’s probably just going to reinforce what teams already view him as....a great athlete with no experience at his new position.

I just meant he wasn't going to reproduce his production next season with what's around him, so for him it was still the right chance despite it being a small chance

Of the front 7, Corcoran is the only one leaving if Sutton stayed. Big downward trajectory!

Very dumb move to come early. 6 foot 225 pound edge rusher. Who's advising him?!

I’m guessing they didn’t know what position to put him or they’re incompetent. There’s no way he’s not getting drafted.
Things will change closer to the draft. I have seen him still listed as a 2020 prospect on some sites. Walterfootball has him and Scharping going in the 4th round.

Downward trajectory after winning the conference? Odd statement but expected.
