Has anyone heard anything about Gus Bradley heading towards OSU as the DC? Wanting to move closer to his son. If true maybe he has a feeling someone will see game time

Haven't seen anything, but he signed a 3 year contract extension last year. Salary probably comparable with OSU, approaching 1 million.

The fact that Bradley did not play in bowl game tells me that he is far from the field.

He will start next season. If you listened to the ESPN sideline reporter they mentioned that Candle almost put Bradley in to start the second half of the bowl game

He should have. And there is no reason that he didn’t unless he’s not very good or he did not want to risk injury. With the new redshirt rule I don’t get it

If Bradley does not start or see considerable playing time next year, he will be more than far from the field, he will be far from Toledo...

RE: Carter Bradley
I still believe that the best hope we have for winning the MAC championship again--and perhaps flirting with the Top 25--is to develop an experienced QB. I like some of the things that Mitch Guadagni does, but he will be a senior next season, and we don't have enough pieces of the puzzle to win it next season, IMO. If we go to Peters, he will be a junior next season, and that means one more shot as a senior the following season, during which time we may see some other young QBs transfer out. So, unless they are so untalented as to cost us every game next season, I'd prefer to see either Bradley, Wilkinson or Finn get the chance to grow into the position for the next few seasons. Anything else--I think--sets us back for awhile.

Peters gave UT the best shot at winning the Bowl game.

This season(2019)Bradley will have to compete and win the starting job. He's going to have to significantly outperform the other QBs. Which won't be easy.
QB is not the big issue for UT. OL and front 7 on Defense are more important.
19 points(Buffalo, EMU, FIU losses) was the difference between making the MACC, a Bowl win,and a 10(+) win season. Fix the OL and Defense.

I agree 100 % . From every thing we see in the highlight films and reports these younger QBs are probably more talented than our two starters this year. I know Mr Football is just a title that is given out each year but I’m sure it’s not given out for the hell of it

RE: Carter Bradley
I agree with some of the comments. Fix the OL and front seven. I love the fact that Mitch gave us a new dimension with his ability to run, but, he ran mostly to avoid trouble as most QB's do. I say convert Mitch to a full time running back since we lost two backs to transfer. Seymour would be the back we utilize when we need a first down, Koback is the finesse back and Mitch could be the change of pace back in which Thompkins excelled. I'm not sure if Ronnie Moore graduates or not. We could use McKrimmon as a fullback.

As I'm sure my posts elsewhere will attest, I am in complete agreement regarding the state of the O line and the D (although I respectfully disagree a little--I think the young talent we have on the front 4 on D will be OK--the positions I worry about are everyone behind them...we've said enough about the linebackers, but I think the secondary was not as strong as it needs to be). In any case, these aren't likely to be fixed in one season, and my concern is that we may fix the O line and D in a couple seasons, only to be left with a hole at QB at that time. I'm of the understandably minority opinion that we should bite the bullet next season, maybe even next two seasons, and build for what could be an eventually strong team at all positions.

Those are the main problems. Even if our passing isn't the greatest, if he fixes the OL we can at least run the ball. Had we been able to run the ball this years we probably could have won a couple more games. Conversely, the defense couldn't stop the run.

Gee, can't pass, can't run ... it's no wonder the team only scored 40.4 points per game - 2nd best in school history.

The problem this season was the defense ... or that there was none to speak of.

Yes, I wish Peters had been a bit more accurate, but he was essentially a red-shirt freshman this year, so considering that, he did pretty well. Bradley may well be the QB of the future, but that remains to be seen. Will have 5 QB options next year and I imagine several could come out of top. The big issue next year will be who will catch the passes. Because of the WR situation, I would guess a QB that can run will have an advantage to get the starting job as it will give them another option if the receivers aren't immediately up to the challenge.

RE: Carter Bradley
The offense did great against mediocre teams. Big-time point totals against bad teams like VMI and Bowling Green. But, they struggled to put up meaningful points against good teams.....Fresno State, Buffalo, NIU. As others have said, that had more to do with the O-Line and a lack of a running game at times throughout the season. Fix the O-Line and we have a dominating offense that will also do well against good teams.

Defense needs fixed......period. I think the DL could be okay next year as there was some good young talent, but I really worry about LB. And I really, really worry about our LB Coach and DC positions as those guys just aren't cutting it. Either their scheme is flawed or their ability to get the players to run the right scheme is flawed. Either way it falls on those two positions. LB's were constantly out of position and got sucked up against the run.

I don't know who will be the starting QB at the beginning of the 2019 season, but I really like Carter Bradley. I don't believe he was ready for meaningful playing time this year, but I hope he is in 2019.

Hopefully Candle learned a lesson from Dabo last night, that its OK to play True Freshman. If Clemson can do it at the highest level of College Football, than Toledo can in the MAC. I hope Bradley and Finn are competing for the spot the starting gig next year. The two best players on the field last night were two true freshmen. Amazing.

Do you guys really think Candle doesn’t play the QB who gives us the best chance to win? I assume because he spends everyday with his players, he knows better than we do who should start.

Yeah but that average is due to lopsided run ups against bad teams. Consider the 24 against Miami, 27 against Fresno, 26 against Eastern, 17 against Buffalo, 15 against Northern. That's 21.8/game in the losses. If our OL was worth a crap, all of those games would have been winnable--although Fresno was pretty good going 12-2 on the season. Except for Guadagni's scrambling, those teams were able to shut down our run which, in turn, hampered the passing game which itself tended to be inconsistent all season. Maybe it isn't fair to compare Guad and Peters to Woodside, but it was what it was. If we could establish the run maybe those guys complete a few more passes...and a few fewer picks.

When you're in the bottom 30 or 40 teams in 3rd and 4th down conversion and Red Zone Offense, something is seriously wrong.
