clt says hurricanes cannot go up a Mountain. That is basic science.

This is huge for building our brand. Besides, unless the businesses are hardcore fans (which by far most aren't) they are not going to stream the ESPN3/+ games on their TVs but if they are on 1/2/U/News/CBS sports/FS1 then it's more likely they will be casually seen across the nation.

Same goes for basketball. I hate going into bars and seeing our non-conference rivals on actual TV when CUSA (thats you Judy) can't seem to get us on the air. Recruits want to go to schools where the teams are on TV. Theres no excuse for a conference as good as CUSA, with the markets we have, to not have 50% of our games, for both football and basketball, broadcast somewhere on actual television.

What are you calling TV? The post you quoted said "TV" was espn, espn2, espnu, espnnews, CBSSports, FS1. Lets break that down a little bit. That's 6 channels if you count espn news as a channel that carries ball games all day..I dont believe one of those channels carries NCAA Basketball all day long.

Anyways, 6 channels and a basketball game takes 2 hours. Time slots of 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm. So a total of 5 basketball games shown on a Saturday..if all each channel showed was basketball....its not.

There's a total of 30 time slots with basketball being shown from 11am to 7pm, on "TV". CUSA had 7 games played this past Saturday and you think 50% of them should be on "real TV"...the 6 channels listed? Other words you think CUSA should be getting 3 to 4 games shown on real TV.

This coming Saturday schedule:

11am
espn...UofL vs UNC
CBSSN Miami Oh vs Buffalo (#19)
espn2 KST vs #20 Iowa State
FS1 Providence vs G-Town
espnu Oklahoma State vs West Virginia

Some other games played in that slot that would rank above any CUSA game
#15 NCST vs Pittsburgh
#4 Virginia vs Clemson

1:00 PM CT
espn #1 Duke vs 13 Florida State
FS1 #21 Marquette vs Seton Hall
espn2 Illinois State vs Loyola-Chicago
espnu South Florida vs Temple
CBSS Davidson vs VCU

Some other games played in that slot that would rank above any CUSA game
#8 Texas Tech vs Texas
#23 Oklahoma vs #25 TCU
#16 Ohio State vs Iowa

3pm only 2 games on espn and both have top 11 team playing and 1 other game on "TV" a MWC game on CBSS. Just like above there's more other better games than the MWC or CUSA

5PM there's 4 games on "TV" two of those have ranked teams playing. Another is showing the ACC and the other AAC. espn is paying MILLIONS to both conference...yet you think they should show CUSA

Our fans have unrealistic views of this conference and TV

FTR, I was strictly speaking football. That being said, here's a list of college football games that were on ESPN/2/U/News/CBSSports on Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays this past year:

NC A&T vs. Jacksonville State ESPN 8/25 (Saturday)
New Mexico State vs. Wyoming ESPN2 8/25 (Saturday)
NC A&T vs. SC State ESPNU 9/27 (Thursday)
Princeton vs. Columbia ESPNU 9/28 (Friday)
Georgia State vs. Troy ESPNU 10/4 (Thursday)
Dartmouth vs. Yale ESPNU 10/5 (Friday)
Georgia Southern vs. Texas State ESPNU 10/11 (Thursday)
Georgia State vs. Ark. State ESPNU 10/18 (Thursday)
Yale vs. Penn ESPNU 10/19 (Friday)
Toledo vs. WMU ESPN2 10/25 (Thursday)
Ball State vs. Ohio CBSSports 10/25 (Thursday)
App State. vs. Georgia Southern ESPNU 10/25 (Thursday)
Ohio vs. WMU ESPNU 11/1 (Thursday)
NIU vs. Akron CBSSports 11/1 (Thursday)
Penn vs. Cornell ESPNU 11/2 (Friday)
Toledo vs. Kent State CBSSports 11/15 (Thursday)
Akron vs. Ohio CBSSports 11/23 (Friday)

...meanwhile, some of these more intriguing CUSA match-ups were on these following "networks":

SMU vs. North Texas STADIUM 9/1 (Saturday)
Marshall vs. WKU STADIUM 9/29 (Saturday)
FAU vs. MTSU FACEBOOK 9/29 (Saturday)
La Tech vs. UAB FACEBOOK 10/6 (Saturday)
MTSU vs. FIU BEINSPORTS (which isn't even on DirecTV or Comcast anymore and prob. won't be ever again) 10/13 Saturday
North Texas vs. UAB BEINSPORTS 10/20 (Saturday)
FIU vs. WKU BEINSPORTS 10/27 (Saturday)
Southern Miss vs. Marshall FACEBOOK 11/3 (Saturday)
FAU vs. FIU STADIUM 11/3 (Saturday)
Southern Miss vs. UAB BEINSPORTS 11/10 (Saturday)
WKU vs. FAU FACEBOOK 11/10 (Saturday)
La Tech vs. Southern Miss STADIUM 11/17 (Saturday)
Marshall vs. FIU FACEBOOK 11/23 (Saturday)

Sure, some of these teams ended up under-performing this year but that's not the point...the point is, these are some of CUSA's more "brand-name teams". IMO we should ALL wanting to trade a Saturday CUSA matchup on BeIn/Stadium/Facebook if it means we'd get it on a Thursday/Friday night on ESPN/2/U/News/CBSSports. We should want that trade all day every day.

I think CUSA should try to get more of our conference matchups on that Thursday/Friday night ESPNU/2/CBSSports slot that tends to go towards MAC/SB/Ivy League...

The only way its worth playing a midweek game is if we are on one of the ESPN networks. Hell no to any midweek game on CBS Sports or any other network not named ESPN.

I'd rather play a Thursday or Friday night game on CBSSports than a Saturday game on Stadium or Facebook or BeIn.

One other thing...CUSA needs to bring it's Championship game back to ESPN instead of CBSSports. Both the MAC/SB had their championship games on ESPN this past year.

I dont believe you fully understand that espn IS NOT WILLING TO PAY for CUSA content. You can want in one hand and piss in the other....

you probably going to be the one person that doesn't understand the hand you piss in is going to fill up.

As for the games you listed as games CUSA should be above...

again you are looking at it in a way the networks aren't. espn owns just about (if not all) all the games you listed on CBSS. They get these games for almost nothing then sell them to CBSS. Its more profitable for CBSS to take these games than to PAY CUSA more money.

As far as people watching do you really think more people are going to watch two CUSA schools play? I'm going to assume you think so, so I'm going to ask you to explain that answer if its yes?

I will give you my answer to what ever you have to say...NO, at least not enough to make CBSS or espn want to pay CUSA.

I believe 3 billion people have FaceBook....its FREE, and most, if not all CUSA has a link to the games. So if a person is too dumb to click a link they probably cant find CBSS on their TV.

Judy might look stupid to some of you but we are the idiots if we truly think she's not trying to get games on the espn networks. I'm going to be honest, I think only a freaking fool would believe the commissioner of CUSA didn't go to espn and make a pitch. All she can do is what the Presidents and ADs of CUSA wants. So if playing on weekdays at 8 or 9pm is what's good for S. Miss...

you need to be directing this there

I would bet you haven't even sent a email.

I'm going to add this also because some of you believe CUSA should do like the MAC and play games on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Not only on those days but also 8pm or is it 9pm start times for some of those games. If you want to kill season tickets sold....

do just as the MAC play almost every game over the last couple months on those days

You limit the amount of games fans can attend to where its better to just buy a ticket for those games you can make. Then you have fans thinking, do I really want to go out tonight and not get home till midnight. It makes it a lot easier to just sit in front of that TV. Which for some of you that's great...you are not attending the games anyways

If you are playing on espnu you might as well have your game on a Internet Stream.....20 or 30k is the numbers for some of those games

Yet...they are willing to pay for SB/MAC/Ivy League/MEAC football....? All I'm saying is CUSA leadership should try to snag a few of those Thurs/Fri night games. Again, a Thurs/Fri game on ESPNU/CBSSports beats the hell out of a Saturday game only view-able through the Whataburger App or Facebook. Have you even paid attention to the # of viewers figures on those FB games? It's literally been in the 100's.

There's absolutely no reason why Georgia Southern vs. Texas State or NIU vs. Akron can get their games on ESPNU or CBSSports on a Thursday night...while USM vs. Marshall or LT vs. UAB is on a platform NOBODY CARES ABOUT WATCHING GAMES ON. AGAIN, NOBODY WATCHES FOOTBALL ON FACEBOOK. Sure, we CUSA fans do because we HAVE to...but casual fans, the ONES WHO ARE CRUCIAL TO BUILDING CONFERENCE BRANDING DO NOT WATCH FB ON FACEBOOK.

Yeah facebook has 3 gazillion people on it....and only 136 of them give 2 sharts about watching Marshall vs. USM or LT vs UAB....so might as well try to move some of those games to Thurs/Fri (not to be confused w/ Tues/Wed) and MAYBE JUST MAYBE there will be more than 136 eyeballs across the freaking country that'll tune in.

Also, most of those SB/MAC/Ivy League/MEAC games are being played at the normal 6pm/7pm time slot so...

No I haven't sent e-mails...I've actually griped to some USM higher ups in person and many of them also share the same lack of enthusiasm w/ our current TV schedule.

You answered, without realizing it, why espn does not want to pay for CUSA content. If no one is watching on FaceBook, including CUSA fans....

why would they watch on espnu or CBSS? I assume there's more than 20,000 S.Miss fans in this world and probably 75% have FaceBook. The same goes for Marshall. So you are telling me those same people will get on facebook and read or chit chat or play games, or what ever they do. But they wont watch S. Miss play football on it? They would rather ***** and complain about it not being on espnu?

You build brand by winning and if being on espn is the only way you thing you can build a brand...

then you'll agree those MAC teams have a better brand than S. Miss? Cant have it both ways. You cant seem to wrap your mind around the fact that if CUSA brought those networks more money than those SB/MAC/Ivy League/MEAC games....

espn would be paying CUSA for them. Your opinion and reality dont match up. You are blaming the wrong people...not one school in CUSA has won anything that makes them worth what you seem to think.

herdfan says teams like Charlotte who average less than 12k/game might be ok with this. The schools with real FBS programs will oppose the Tues/Weds games.

do just as the MAC play almost every game over the last couple months on those days

I agree. The games should be scheduled to attract fans. For us, it is games on Saturday at 6:00 pm in September and October and at 2:00 on in November.

This is not meant to offend. The older generation just doesn't understand how people under 30 consume content these days. The days of flipping through channels to land on a game is over. ESPN is overrated.

now you bring up a good talking point. The under 30 consumer is a a huge focal point in sports right now, BUT they are a lot harder to box in and have very complicated habits. how long will they stay tuned into a game on social media? heck, they barely can make it a half at the actual event, with phones in their hand. Interest in the game is the biggest problem, IMO. so until you can get a better sense of how to deal and adjust to that age group, you need traditional TV and older fans to smooth the transition from one generation to another.

Great point. Texting has now expanded to some degree to the 40-50 year olds as well. I look around at games and it seems 1/3 of the fans are texting during the game. Not sure how shortened attention spans will play outin the future. Maybe all broadcast games will become a series of cut backs to multiple games at the same time?highlights rather than fiull game.
