Judaism is based on the teachings of the first five books of the OT. Pretty violent stuff in there. Yet Jews and Christians = friends.

Islam has over a billion adherents. A giant majority adhere to the peaceful practices found in the Q'uran and Christians and Muslims = not friends. Jews and Muslims = not friends. Why?

How about if we called it 'the new deal'? Would you THEN understand that 'the law of Moses' (essentially the old testament/deal) was no longer the way to Salvation, but instead it was through Jesus?

Im sure that some religious scholars will correct me and they are right... but that is the easiest way to explain it. While Jesus said, I don't come to replace the law, but to complete it... that does not mean what some want to argue... It means that HIS PRESENCE and SALVATION THROUGH HIM COMPLETES the law of Moses... which in the common vernacular DOES essential replace it.... There is a subtle and important difference but for the purpose of the conversation, it is a new deal/replacement of the old path to salvation

But the bigger difference between this and radical Islam is the number of people who not only believe in violence in the name of Christianity vs Islam, but the lengths they are willing to go to.

Radical Chrstianity IS a problem... but it hasn't been nearly as pressing in the past few decades as radical Islam. If it ever does become that, I'd hope and expect the same reaction by level headed people

um.... no. I think most of them (not 99.999999% but whatever) judge them (to the extent that they do) on the basis of whether or not they are an existential threat to them.

I think they'd have the same problem with Buddhists if there were measurable numbers of suicide Buddhists.

Basic difference between the two: Jesus died for the sins of people, Mohammed dictates people kill for Islam and you are rewarded for dying.

Now nazi-esque language from one of her guests this week on the hill. Does he find this also, "pretty cool"?

Christians are Gentiles (Non Jews), and never were Hebrew Israelites, so they never were under then OT Law.

Its totally absurd to say Christians ignore the OT, the entire basis of Christianity and Christ as the Savior is based on the OT. The idea that murder, lying, stealing, adultery and gazillion other things are sin comes from the OT.

Just randomly murdering someone in the OT was not allowed either. One of the 10 commandments is thou shalt not kill. God judged certain cities and peoples and had Israel destroy them for their wickedness and corruption, He did NOT command them to conquer the whole world and murder all non Jews. The cities God had them destroy were some of the most evil, wicked and vile on the earth. God is the judge of all, and if He declares judgment on a nation or city, He is righteous in His judgment. He knows even the secret thoughts, desires and actions of each person, and often uses other nations or people to wield His judgment. He even used the ancient Assyrian, Babylonian and Roman empires to bring judgment and destruction on His own people when their wickedness and evil had reached the point of judgement. He brought just as severe of judgment upon His own people when they had turned from Him and corrupted themselves.

Its also important to remember that not one single child who was killed went to hell, every single one of them are with God in Heaven today.

But it was okay to murder the children. Ok.

I doubt I'm an expert on biblical knowledge such as yourself.

While my ex and I were dating, I read the Koran and she read the Bible. We did it to learn more about each other. It also helps to refute lots of the nonsense I still hear to this day. Her and I didn't work out, but I'm glad I read the book.
