RE: FIU
This team is more athletic and longer on the wing than we've been in a while. If we can continue to gel, we can be a top 4 squad.

Our big man coach is doing a great job....our big men are improved and confident us contagious.
If we continue play with confidence when on the road, we will be a very good team...

RE: FIU
Just watched the game this morning.
What a fun 2nd half.
Could’ve been a fun 1st half if not for all the turnovers.
No, I don’t think this is a final 4 team, but at least I like the direction it’s headed

I like the results of the last two games, at home against lower tier conference teams. Good efforts. But Im still waiting and hoping to see an Ehsan team win a big game against a good team, and even better, on the road. I like the team rebounding, a lot. I like what we are seeing from Gueye also. We need another consistent three point threat. I thought that was going to be Bertain going into the season.

RE: FIU
FIU is going to be a fun (albeit pesky) team to watch once their coach gets more shooters in. Ehsan pointed out in the postgame that their shots weren't falling so they couldn't get into their full court defense. Thought that was an interesting point.
UAB wins by 50 if Mack doesn't have to sit in the 1st half. I really hope this team is able to play consistently for the remainder of the year. I look forward to seeing the Baby Blazers continue to grow this season.
Last thing: Finally got around to updating my attendance projections, and I'm at nearly a 70% correlation. Curious if the ticket counting issues messed up the attendance count. I was expecting 3,327 at the game last night, but announced attendance was 2,878.

Agree on Bertain. I thought he'd be a starter, or at least a bench contributor, not a garbage time player. Bell & Perry are both capable of shooting from the arc, but both of them seem so hesitant to take shots.

FIU also shot a lot of FTs: 28-39. If not for those Fts, too...

RE: FIU
Is there anybody good in CUSA? NT has a good record but didn't impress me yesterday. WKU, ODU, and Marshall can be pretty good but are very inconsistent.
The league is wide open. I don't see a team significantly better than UAB.

Two teams vastly improved from what they have been historically.
Hopefully you will have more to gripe about next week.
It we beat La Tech and USM on the road next week then I will start thinking that maybe weve turned a corner. I've been fooled by these kind of results under Ehsan before.
That’s going to be a tall order. Right now UAB is an underdog at La Tech by 6 and an underdog at USM by 5. Winning on the road is so difficult. I remember the good UAB teams going to south Florida and losing to both FAU and FIU. I’m hoping for at least one win on the road next week.

RE: FIU
I like the pod experiment.
What we were doing wasn’t helping to get multiple bids.
Trying to help profiles.
NT(or any other potential at large team)will not be forced to play multiple games vs bottom 9 teams except maybe Rice and tourney teams.
Winning vs the bottom 9 does not help. Winning vs top 5 might.
Certainly won’t have 3 games against more than 1 of the bottom 9 for top 5.
It may have helped MTSU last year. Would not have hurt MTSU to have additional wins vs ODU. They may not have been over confident in tourney game against a team they had only beaten once instead of twice by an average of 15 points.
They say it’s hard to beat a team 3 times in a season.

This is right. The ESPN guy that helped come up with it kept saying that the main point was to improve seeding, not necessarily get more teams in. Higher seeds make it further in the tournament, making it further equals more money, blah blah blah.

RE: FIU
CUSA has had poor seeding in the NCAA the last 4 years as evidenced by the 4 underdog wins.
I think it might help get an additional bid should our #1 seed lose in CUSA tourney.

RE: FIU
It appears to me that quality OOC wins against P5 teams determines whether or not you get in at-large. I don’t think this gimmick is worth the time or effort.

And the next time that someone from ESPN will give a rip about non P-5 playing conferences will be the first time in quite some time.

RE: FIU
I don’t see the negatives.
MTSU had some good wins OOC. That loss to Southern Miss popped their bubble.
MAybe it would have helped them to have not played them twice in reg season. Beating bad teams does nothing to help. Beating top 100 on the road helps.
Marshall could have used another game vs top 5 and maybe they could have avoided losing to us. Might have improved their seed in ncaa. Couldn’t hurt.
